Wire nuts?

Is not one valid issue a fact that a wire nut offers ZERO protection against corrosion and oxidation? Or how many wire nuts do you see on a boat? What is the difference between high humidity on a freshwater lake or in the middle of an Iowa cornfield?

From a box of Ideal wire nuts;

Being old school I always twist the wires together before using the wire nuts. No failures yet...

My trailer was full of wire nuts from the factory especially behind the converter/charger unit and the trailer cable electrical junction box areas... I eliminated a rats nest full of them when replacing the OLD single mode converter/charger for the more modern smart-mode converter/charger which came with a real nice 120VAC and 12VDC Power Distribution Panel.

You are not to twist together before inserting into the wire nut. If using a combination of solid and stranded wire, put the stranded about 1/16" ahead of the solid.

As always I could be wrong but I believe the latest instructions from the manufacturers is to tightly twist the wires together before you use the nut.
Perhaps this has changed lately?

I'm no fan of wire nuts...but it may surprise some folks to learn how many wire nuts their RV's left the factory with.

You are not to twist together before inserting into the wire nut. If using a combination of solid and stranded wire, put the stranded about 1/16" ahead of the solid.
