:B - shelbyjExplorerThese Ford vs Chevy debates always make me laugh. They are both solid trucks. IMO you cant go wrong either way. That being said, the numbers don't lie, Ford outsells them both. As fun as it is to watch these videos, I could care less who "wins" I would never buy a truck based on these "tests" Ok, let me get my popcorn and continue to watch the Kool aid drinking contest. :-)
- goducks10ExplorerThese tests are really meaningless anyways. The general public doesn't care and sales prove it.
Ram sells twice as many HD diesel trucks as GM does and Ford sells twice as many as Ram does. So even though GM wins the race, they lose the sale race. Buyers care about bang for the buck. And apparently Ram and Ford offer more. - ib516Explorer IINo turbo lag on my 6.4L :B
- parkersdadExplorerKeep in mind that heavy-duty trucks are supposed to be made to tow and not for speed. If you want speed go buy a Corvette. Look at any good tow vehicle such as a tractor-trailer or a dump truck. Do they tow or start up fast? No they do not they are just workhorses. That is what the Cummins motor is. It is built to work and that is why I have one. Speed in a HD truck makes no sense to me.

A revision change does not mean a next generation anything my friend

Ford has used the same twin turbine turbo from '11-'14 models and the '15 will use a single larger turbine.
I will say the twin turbine turbo doesn't shine in high altitudes or exhaust brake (BTW neither are needed here in Texas), but let me tell you it shines with very little turbo lag and the truck takes off like a rocket really quick with or without a load. :B
Sorry Troy but you're incorrect. You see, the first gen had problems just like the 4.X pumps. So they started the second gen turbo's that are super balanced.
Here is a little reading for you to refresh your memory. :B
BTW about the turbo lag issue. Chevy does not have any with their single turbo. In fact the Dmax wasted the 6.4 Ford twin turbo in off the line performance and killed the 6.7 in the mountain test.
Like I said, first place looser. :B
33 miles an hour for the Ram and 36 miles an hour for the Ford compared to 44 for the Chevy. After that embarrassment I suspect that Ford and Ram is really going to jack the fuel up on the next test. We will see.
Wonder how that bigger snail is going to work down low for Ford? Woopsee, there goes the bottom end! :B Maybe they will fix that with a 4,500 RPM converter. :B I say they will win that test yet!
A revision change does not mean a next generation anything my friend and if your looking at internet chatter your the blind leading the blind.
Now go show me some real data to back up your claim.
Your statement Chevy doesn't have turbo lag is false. My parents 05 is a dog from a start and takes a bit for the turbo to spool up.
Credibility really comes to mind here Turtle. :Wblofgren wrote:
This is one of the main reasons I do not have another Ford after 20 years of ownership; I did not feel like being a guinea pig again while they brought out Job 143X to correct the shortcomings of the previous versions. Anyone can say what they want but it is true.
It seems like the other manufacturers take more time before the release of the vehicle to iron out issues (remember the 2013 Ram 3500) rather than Ford's approach to release now and face the issues later. And that's only if they decide to cover the issues on warranty of course....
And the 6.7 cummins did not have any issues with emissions? I suppose the cleaning port that was added later was for it your do it your selfer to clean the turbo.- Turtle_n_PeepsExplorer
