- bluefishgaryExplorerI have a 15 DRW Ram 6.4 so far fuel mileage is 12.7 and thats for almost 10,000
Miles. The lie o meter is off by 2mpg . I have tracked it and all fuel used on
fuele.com you can look it up. I think my mileage is great for a big truck. - DakotaDadExplorerMy '14 6.4l EVIC has been pretty close each time I've hand checked it, within .2, and it's read both a bit high and a bit low. Close enough that I don't hand check on a regular basis anymore, just spot check now and then.
I've gotten as high as 19 unloaded on a long (400 miles) drive, at mostly 65mph. Higher speeds or wind quickly drop it to 16.0 to 18.0 depending on circumstances. To be fair, I see 17-ish more often than 18+. Haven't checked it with our new 80mph speed limit yet. Not sure I want to know. - ScottGNomadMy 03 Ram computer has always been enthusiastic by 1 ~2.5 MPG.

That is pretty good mileage if that's your thing. I'm not a MPG guy. MPG is unimportant to me in a heavy duty truck.
I want the truck to get the job done MPG's are secondary. It's a truck not an economy car.
I prefer power over MPG's in a truck. Different strokes.
So you'd be happy getting 16mpg vs 18+mpg when both are equally capable? - IdaDExplorer

Good post.
I wish my 6.4 would come close to that. I have never seen over 14.2 mpg empty and usually closer to 13.5 (just over 15k on the truck now). These are hand calculated and the EVIC is within .5 mpg of the hand calculated.
Based on the research I did, I'd say your numbers are more typical. - nirionExplorerGood post.

So far, the EVIC in my Ram has been close to dead on as well.
My '03 Dodge/Cummins over head is always 1-2 mpg less than pencil figures.
However I don't have a city out here so 90 percent of miles driven are all highway miles.
I would bet those that say their dic is always more mpg may live in or around a city.
Anyhow....IBs 18 mpg is dang good for a truck that size and a 62 mph average. Beats the wifes '06 1500 4x4 crew cab chevy 5.3 16-17 mpg
Some folks forget a average speed take into account all stop signs/etc and going through a small towns 25-35 mph speed limits or other reduced speed limits. A 62 mph average is hard to do on some secondary state hiways in a all day run. - spud1957ExplorerWow! For us Canucks that's almost 22 MPG. Amazing!
- My 05 Ram Cummins is always showing 1 to 2 mpg better than a hand calculation but my wife's 2013 Ford Edge shows 1 to 2 mpg worse than what we actually get doing a hand calcualation.
Lie o meters are just that. I think it depends on how much starting and stopping of the engine that you do. - LantleyNomadThat is pretty good mileage if that's your thing. I'm not a MPG guy. MPG is unimportant to me in a heavy duty truck.
