- coolbreeze01ExplorerLook at the pic on page 1. Typical FW drain.
- scout_dadExplorerHelp me please as I am fairly new to rv's , I have never use the fresh tanks as I use hook ups when I camp. When draining the fresh tank, what to open up, the low point drain caps? never done this before and wanting to use tank in future myself.
Thanks - Happy_ProspectoExplorerIt takes awhile to drain, but that's what they invented beer for.
- jacko147ExplorerI had 2 40 gallon tanks with a small drain valve on each, took way over an hour to drain...
- myredracerExplorer IIduplicate...
- myredracerExplorer IIIf you have an outdoor shower you can run the pump at the same time. Also pumping into the grey tank at the same time should help providing you can dump the tank where you happen to be.
If you need to do this often, I wonder if it would help to install a 1/2" to 3/4" or 1" PEX coupling and a ball valve for better flow. I installed a tee and valve right at our pump so I can attach a hose directly at the pump - pumps water out somewhat faster than using the outdoor shower or a faucet. Nash has a good setup for fast draining. - coolbreeze01ExplorerA 2 1/4" to 2 1/2" knife drain is normal and doesn't take long. Anything less is substandard and just plain cheap.
- rockhillmanorExplorerYup that's normal. A teenie tiny opening to drain the fresh tank.
If I am in a hurry I just open up the "cold" kitchen faucet full force if I want it to drain into the gray or open up the "cold" bathroom faucet which empties into the black. This is done with the water pump on not shore station water hookup.
If you are doing this at home I'd pick what ever faucet drains into the gray tank so you can dump the now filled with fresh water gray tank.
Using the coach faucets really cuts the time it takes to drain using that darn small gravity drain valve. - NunyadamnExplorerI will pump it into the grey tank. It takes forever if I don't for the 80 gallon tank. Takes about 15-20min by using the pump.
- NanciLExplorer IISounds weird to me.
I have a 2006 travel trailer with a 55 gallon fresh water tank.
It has a gate valve and will empty in a few minutes.
Are you sure you didn't just open the low point drain?
