- buckyExplorer IIFYI, air bags do not deploy if bag protected seating position occupants are not buckled in. The air bag will hurt you more than the accident in those cases. And if you want to litigate, the manufacturer can recover that fact from onboard electronics. I watched that retrieval process once. All the rep said was "take me back to the airport, I'm done here." Took 10 minutes. They also do not deploy when the impact angle would throw the passenger out of the narrow cone where the bag would help.

Too bad your truck doesn't have a 5.9 :W
So useful. Thank you.
To the OP: don't believe all the hype. Ambulance chaser and bottom feeder lawyers are abundant these days it seems - transamz9Explorer

What air bags are you talking about? SRS or suspension? If it's the SRS air bags then there is a recall on them, about 200,000 Chrysler cars and trucks are being inspected. Again do to outside vendors! Got to love those non union, internet schooled engineers :W
The more you out outsource, the more problems you have! We have vendor sorts going on every single day and these are "Vendor Certified" parts. Whoever came up with that idea should have been shot.
Don
SRS Had to replace frame bent and not repairable broke both engine mounts and just about ripped the front Diff out and the air bags did not come out. I was told that we did not trip the air bag black box in the cab. I hate to see what it would take!
It takes two sensors to set the bags off. Depending on the impact, it can take a whole lot of damage to set them off. - J2Explorer

Good luck - Perrysburg_DodgExplorer

Don - GASA765ExplorerHad it checked out today by a diesel mechanic. When I got there the CEL light was on. It had only been driven 30 miles or so since the latest CEL came on. He hooked up his scan tool and found stored codes P0087 and P1011. The same codes that showed up in May when we were told the problem was the fuel pump. Additionally stored code P2509 was showing. None were showing active. The CEL went off when the truck was restarted. Since P2509 has to do with the ECM he was thinking there might be a wiring connectivity issue but none was found. He suggested a computer reflash when I get to a town that has a Dodge dealer. Found TSB 18-013-08 Rev A that may need to be done. He couldn't tell if it had been done. Hope that's all it is. He also told me that as long as truck restarts after it stalls its not fatal and could be driven. Good to know.

- mr__edExplorerI've has numerous issues with my 2007.5 RAM with 6.7L engine after I first purchased it. Virtually all issues had to do with the emissions equipment. Some of the issues have been resolved through computer updates and other procedures. I'll still get a "nuisance" CEL now and then but the truck has never let me down to the point I couldn't use it. I'm a little peeved that the dealer never mentioned these trucks aren't meant to be daily drivers (IOW, used like a regular gas vehicle around town). That being said, if you use the truck the way it was designed (for towing and not as a grocery getter) it will have less problems.
Oh, let me add that a code reader will be your friend. They're easy to use and will tell you what the CEL means. They can be purchased at Walmart for reasonable cost. It's also good to know what the problem really is before you have a dealer mechanic look at the vehicle. - mileshuffExplorerMy 2007.5 6.7L truck was in the shop monthly for the first 1 1/2 years. Replaced the turbo twice and have had the EGR and heater grid cleaned out multiple times along with many flash updates, CO2 sensors, exhaust wrap and other emission related repairs. However, I now have 72,000 miles on it and the last CEL and related repair was around 40,000 miles. Chrysler gave me a 7 year 100K mile $0 deductible thats covered a few items. Have 1 more year left on that. The past several years have been trouble free.
