LED clearance light bulb out - P/N????

So my 2014 WC850 has two of the front center clearance lights out. Popped the lens cover off to try and take the "bulb" out, figured I'd just run to the auto parts store and grab the replacments.

1) How do you get the circuit board looking bulb out without breaking it?

2) How do you figure the P/N out? Any experience with these?

Yes, tried the dealer.....no help by phone.

Trying to get ready for the GREAT THAW......it has to be coming soon....right?!!!!

Thanks in advance.
  • After seven years with my toy hauler, the only lamps I replaced were H3 bulbs in the spot lights. I saw the same at home when swapping out on the bleeding edge of florescent and LED technology - The first generation had poor life.

RV LED lights should be better by now, but it comes back to the lack of quality controls in the industry...
  • but,but,but.....I thought so many were switching out their incandescent marking lights for LED marking lights because they last so long!? I have changed ONE incandescent bulb in 3 years.
  • Yep. You'll be removing the entire fixture (sealant and all), cutting the wires, installing new connectors and resealing. Only to do it again at some point in the not-too-distant future. The board and LED are one piece. It an absolutely ridiculous choice for a light sealed to the camper. Low cost, I guess. Unless you're in a pinch like I was, do not replace it a the same kind. Instead use a fixture with a replaceable inc or LED bulb. There's a catch though...unless you can find a longer fixture with a wider bolt center spread, you need to find fixtures with a 3" center mounting point as that is the distance between the existing bolt hole centers in the camper.

Don't waste time taking it to the dealer for warranty work. They'll just put the same******back on.
  • The MCL32 marker lights are about $5/ea on eBay. I have had two fail under warranty on my 2012 Arctic Fox and now have two more that flicker that will need to be replaced. These are lasting much shorter than my incandescent markers on my toy hauler.
  • I would go directly to mfg. You have lights that do no work on a 2014. They should offer a replacement or a source, at minimum the manufacture of the fixture (though likly an entire unit not just LED or parts ). They know what parts they use. Not like its some proprietary infringement?
Quite few Wolf Creek owners here-Is there something special about the clearance lights used?

Yes I assume light tested light... 2 out seems a high rate for LED.
    edit
Oh-semi sealed unit-yes you will replace entire fixture. Asking for replacement LED isnt going to get you anywhere.

That's correct. The LED board isn't a replaceable part - the entire light fixture would need to be replaced.

Last time I looked at a Wolf Creek and AF camper, they were using the Optronics LED marker lights:

Pretty sure the LEDtrailerlights guy owns an AF.
  • Sure it is the LED and not the wiring? LEDs rarely fail. Electronics driving them fail but I doubt these clearance lights have anything more than a current limit resistor.

Have you tried hooking one of them up to a 12V battery directly?
  • Called dealer. Dealer called Mfg. Mfg. Said they just install unit don't deal with bulb (according to dealer parts person). So I'm left hang'n. Will get some photos and be checking out the posted sites. May make some more calls.
  • 2014 Id be calling camper manufacture. Most LEDS are not designed to be serviceable, built as unit. That said some can be without too much difficulty if fair with a soldering iron-hardest part is identify LED used. That you could take the lens off to expose board..um.

Unless..there are a few T10 LEDs that plug in like a standard glass incandescant bulb, built on board usually used as a replacement, the base is the circuit board, they just unplug. Im hesitant thats what you have (dont start yanking) as most newer LED fixtures are hardwired, most replacement type bulbs use plastic base. Pictures would help...but first Id call camper mfg.

I would contact your TC manufacturer if it is OEM...

If it has been added by previous owner then you will just have to find something that fits I guess.

ETRAILER and LED TRAILER LIGHTS would be a couple of places to look.
