Lighting problems

Ok, everything was working fine till now that I'm ready to go in a few weeks. Only the front & drivers side marker lights up. Also the drivers side tail/brake/turn works. It's only the passenger side front marker/tail lights and the red lights above the doesn't work. I have checked all fuses, what else could it be?

    Did you get this fixed?

Not yet it's been raining :(. I found that the green wire on the front passenger is good, but from there on no good. So I'm going to attach new wire and try to snake the new wire through. I used my battery jump box to the rear passenger side and all the lights work.

I'm I heading in the right direction?

Do you have a meter or test light?

    Yes I have both.

1)Establish that power is being delivered to the towing vehicle's harness in all functions, using either a test light or meter.
2)With towing vehicle's harness connected to trailer, test for power at a lamp fixture.
3)If power is present at fixture but lamp will not light, a ground connection is open. If power is not present, an open circuit exists between functioning harness and lamp fixture. This assumes that the lamp is functioning.

There are different ways to cure this but careful inspection and tracing wire is the first step. Sometimes, it is easier and more effective to install a new wire to enable the circuits that are not functioning.

    Good luck with the problem.

:) Hi, I believe that some trailer's lights are wired from a starting point and continue around the trailer. I would check either the last light that is working or the first one that is not working. Remove the light assembly and look for a broken wire or bad connection. Picture a string of lights and a hot wire is cut near the middle; Then all of the lights beyond that point won't work.

Should not. You can use a jumper wire from the battery hot side to the correct pin on your plug to power each part of the system. It is cheap and easy to do. If you do not have a chart of the plug wiring, do a search for Bargman wiring diagram on the internet and print it out. Luckily they are pretty standard. For a long time I used to have the male side with a wire screwed to the battery pin that I could just plug in and then connect to the correct pin to power the circuit I needed to check. Have since lost it, darn

    Thanks for the info.

Bad ground or bad circuit for that side of the plug. My bet is on a ground issue.

Does it matter if the truck and trailer is hooked up? I just have my truck close enough to plug it in.
