I wonder if everyone would agree with the term "stole". According to the agreement, Fiat cannot use Chrysler funds unless the companies are fully merged. If 100% ownership doesn't already mean Fiat is responsible for Chrysler's pension and other obligations, a merger surely will and the owners will be the shareholders of the merged company wherever they live.
Marchionne has bet the existence of both names on building a healthy Chrysler.
True...but he talking about bringing models in from overseas to do it.
However, most companies build the same model in multiple markets. For example, Ford employs Polish or Ukranian labor to build Focus' in Europe. I read a funny story about Honda now being a net exporter... from the US to Japan. Story Clicky.. Chevrolet builds its spark in Korea as well I believe. Hopefully Marchionne will bring some more manufacturing to some old Chrysler factories and bring back some US manufacturing. If the Japanese can build a cost savings for it, I'm sure the Italians may find a way. I'm still bitter about how Daimler destroyed what was once a very budding Chrysler. They took all the money and sucked Chrysler dry to float their European operations at the time. I just worry that the same may happen with Fiat, but Marchionne has surprised me so far. - 45RicochetExplorerWhat was the topic again :H

Last I checked there was this little car company called Fiat that basically stole Chrysler,Dodge/RAM. They basically paid for Chrysler and got Jeep for free.

It will go both ways. Among other things, it sounds like they really want to expand Jeep presence in Europe and Asia. Ford and GM have lots of world models, why would a merged Chrysler Fiat be any different? - CKNSLSExplorer

Heck, even not all of the Cummins parts are made in the USA.
I buy for myself, I don't buy for anyone else. They don't make my payments or pay the repair bills. And yes I was a union member for close to 30 yrs. Being union made does not make it a better product. Why did I buy a Mexican made Ram with a USA made Cummins? Cause it was cheaper than the Ford and GM. Do I wish my Ram was made in the USA? Absolutely. Fact is you can hardly buy anything that's not made somewhere else. Globalization. - TargaExplorerEasy now Dodgeboy on busting Nissans marbles for only having 3 factories here. Chrysler shut down there Wentzville truck plant in Missouri but was more than happy to get that sweat cheap labor in Saltillo Mexico. I know my last three Rams, an 01', 09' and 12' were all Heche En Mexico.

Last time I looked, this thread was titled Nissan Frontier with a Cummins.
I agree with Peter of autoextremist that Fiat stole the company. I read his column every week. That arrangement bothers me a lot. But, I had to get over it. I hesitated on my last GM purchase that I made right after GM got bailed out. I almost didn't do it, but I had to move on.
I want to see GM, Ford, and Chrysler all do well, so I buy their products. I know Fiat owns Chrysler, but there are a lot of American people building great products for them, and I support that.
