We never have used the stone. We use one of those cookie sheets with the two piece construct that has an air lock between them. Works fine the air lock prevents burning of anything in the first place. No problem in many, many years.
Quick question for the mentally challenged (me), do you use the cookie sheet as a 'buffer' by putting it on the level below the rack and then place your baking dish/pie dish/etc. on the rack? Or do you put it on the rack with the container your baking with on the cookie sheet?
Or am I over thinking this????????????????? - Bit_BucketExplorer

- JRS___BExplorerI am thinking the problem with most RV ovens is that the burners are a "U" shape. So more gas is burned and more heat is generated at the bottom of the "U".
This, or course, creates the hot spot at one end.
It is the same setup in in many outdoor grills. That is why I look for either grills with a "H" burner, or multiple straight line burners parallel to each other.
So a stone should help any gas oven with a U shaped burner.. - gon2dadawgsExplorer"Everybody must get stones" :) I'm the cook in this family and now I need to get a stone! A few cast iron pans and such....now a stone...better go to the scales someday! Any preferred stone source...link please.
