Venting the trailer while moving?

If you could see that cover buffeting in the wind it would scare you. Start watching for others on the road and you'll see what I mean. :E

I have experienced the dusting and for this reason I keep vents closed when Traveling.
The dusting does not occur every trip.I imagine if you pass any active construction sites or drive through dusty air along the way you may end up with dust inside your RV.
I have Maxxair covers, but I have learned to close vents before hitting the road.
I also have an onboard genset. If we stop for lunch on a hot day the A/C will cool the rig to bearable pretty quick. I use the fantastic fan in the kitchen to exhaust the hot air while running the A/C via the LP genset.

On my current, and previous, TT I have never had this happen. Nearly every one of our camping trips involves a dirt road and we always leave both roof vents open. We do have covers on both vents, so that may help.

The last trip we went on was 48 miles of dirt one way, and the way out was VERY VERY dusty. Even at speeds up to 45mph the dust doesn't come in the vents at all. It was dusty enough on that trip that some dust did make it thru the slide seals down by the floor thou.

The trailer seems to hold its temp. better by leaving it closed up anyway.

I keep all my windows closed while traveling, especially the back window, where dust can really get sucked in. But I leave the vent under the maxx air cover open. It never seems overly dusty in there to me, but maybe I have just been lucky.

I've traveled vents open/vents closed, never open windows while towing and seems like it gets a little dusty inside with the vent open, but I do it anyway cuz it gets so $$%%^^&* hot totally closed.

Back as newbies with our '07 HTT, this question came along pretty often. Numerous posts on Hybrid Explorer strongly recommended against leaving any windows or vents open as you'll end up with a coating of road grime everywhere. Don't know if that's true or not, but we've never left anything open. Just personal preference.

They are quite easy to install yourself. I am not sure how much the dealer will charge to install them.
