I'm curious if anyone has seen DEF dispensers at the auto diesel aisles?
I have seen the nozzles at Buckee's. They have a huge number of pumps and a truck lane just like truck stops except none of the large, capacity nozzles. They don't let 18 wheelers on their lot.
Posts about filters crop up regularly. Has anyone seem filters being replaced at any of the truck stops? How about regular stations regularly used by cars? - Cummins12V98Explorer IIIFilled mine yesterday after getting the "ya better get me some DEF" warning that I would be crawling along at 5mph in 200 miles if I did not get sum in da tank.
So instead of putting in the 2.5 I had in the tool box I grew some balls and tried out the DEF pump along with the Diesel pump at a Loves in East NM on I-40.
I have now came out of my 2.5 gallon Peak DEF cave and joined the real world. It's easy, convenient and a deal at $2.75 a gallon. - Perrysburg_DodgExplorer

The only thing contaiminated Def will do is maybe clog the injector that's it! No more of a concern then the fuel you buy!
The DEF is injected on the front side of the dpf not in the engine! The pumps at all stations have filters on them just like the fuel pumps do.
Man we do have a bunch of chicken littles on here.

Says the man with a truck that's ~1 year old and maybe ~20k miles.
My truck is 4 years old with 93k miles and not a single DEF related issue to date.
Yep one year and five months with 26,000 miles so what is your point Troy?
The tank has been filled three times, all at the same Flying-J on I-280 & 80/90. Once when new (dealer repaid me) and the other two @ the 10,000 & 20,000 mile mark with the oil & filter changes. Never once have I seen the pump all crusted up like some others clam nor are the lanes filthy. The one morning they had their scrubber machine cleaning all of the fuel lanes. Maybe some of you need to find better truck stops lol!
If there was any issues with these stations don't you think REAL truckers would be having problems? He!! they buy 50 gallons at a time! Creep around the truckers forums and report back how many are having DEF issues Troy, or you guys can keep posting that the sky is falling!
Some of you are just too funny!

Well this chicken little knows for a fact that there is no filter on the GM DEF systems. And I am pretty sure that the Fords are the same.
I am not sure about the Rams... But I doubt they have one either.
In addition there is no drains on the tanks, so no way to get bad DEF out without removing the tank. There are also sensors in the tanks that can be compromised by bad DEF... These systems are required by the FEDs to monitor DEF quality to prevent wiseacres attempts to defeat the system such as adding water or piss into the tank.
Cantaminated DEF will throw a code which will need to be cleared at the dealer... This can require a tow...
So yes, Chicken Little knows that there is a LOT more that can happen than just a clogged DEF injector.
The systems don't measure DEF quality. They only monitor the system ability to reduce NOX. If it sees the NOX isn't being reduced it trips a "Bad DEF" warning. The DEF is most likely fine. Typically it's one or more of the NOX sensors that's at fault.
Filling the DEF tank with distilled water won't damage anything. It just won't convert the NOX and will trigger a "Bad DEF" warning. I haven't read reports of anyone actually urinating in a DEF tank, but I can't imagine the results would be good. - Perrysburg_DodgExplorerThe filter I am referring to is at the pump not on the truck. I do not think there is a filter other than maybe a fine screen on the in tank pump? Again warm and fuzzy is all that matters.

Funny thing is there are guys running the GDE tune that pour distilled water in there def tank as the egr valve is turned off with their tune. They haven't posted a thing about any codes being thrown. - HuntindogExplorerWell this chicken little knows for a fact that there is no filter on the GM DEF systems. Now we all know this is BS as DEF is DEF, no matter what color jug or large tank it's pumped from, but when your dealer is not supporting your warranty, it kind of leaves one out in the cold. And I understand replacing the DEF system costs several thousand dollars.
