Also if you drop the tank for fuel pump replacement (we did on our '04 B+) have the tank cleaned. Ours had a "thin sludge or slime" in the bottom of the tank. This was shortly after we bought it 2012 with 8000 miles, without any use for 2-3 years. The only thing the mechanics could could attribute the condition of the fuel pump and in-tank fuel filter was that it might have been sitting for several years with a tank of untreated 10% ethanol fuel. Ours would run until the engine heated up or was under a heavier load.
