You are on the right track if your grill hose looks like the one in the first pic. I assume the quick-disconnect end of it goes the the grill? If so, the adapter you showed in the last pic will hook up to the port on the sturgi T adapter. Then you hook your grill hose up there.

I have a sturgi-stay (extended-stay) adapter on my rig. It's tough to get both ports situated in a manner where you can easily access them both. If you don't plan on hooking up an external tank, I would rotate the T when you install it so the high-pressure port for your grill is facing out the access door. I use mine to hook up an external tank, so my high pressure port is facing up. I haven't tried to use it yet, but I plan to buy the hose that Cutlass posted to hook up a camping stove.

Here's mine (yes, the 30-year old tank is rusty but it's not leaking).



Question for those more knowledgeable: I bought a cheap camping stove that takes the 1 lb. cylinders. I ASSume I can hook a hose right up to it? It must have an internal regulator?

I looked ast all kinds of options when we got our Weber Q. In the end, I decided a portable tank was the best way to go. I got a 10-lb "squatty" portable tank that has the same base ring as the regular 20-pounder. I bought a "base stabilizer ring" from CW and bolted it down inside a stow-bin. The tank snaps in snugly enough that no additional restraint is needed for travelling.

With that set-up, where I put the grill when I want to cook on it is not restricted by the length of a hose from the RV's tank.

Quick update...

The proposal did work as I had hoped. Ordered from Amazon as Camping World was absolutely no help. Arrived two days.

Needed an extension hose since my compartment is under a slide out. Couldn't find an easy extension in stock anywhere (we'd be happy order that for you... Now why would I want to pay store prices and have you order it? I will pay store prices, but I want it today, otherwise I'll order it and get it cheaper...)

Anyway, finally ended up finding the extension at Tractor Supply. Cost a bit more than online, but I had it to take on my trip this weekend.

So all in all... problem solved.

You can only have 1 regulator from the source (tanks) and the destination...ie, your grill.

Not quite correct you can have two regulators.

Yeah, I could see how that would work. I think that it would be a much quicker connect/disconnect and a little cheaper than what I was looking at.

On the other hand... my version is looking to cost about $42 through Amazon (although that doesn't include a longer hose -- which I would need either way), so cost isn't too much of an issue. It will take longer to hook/unhook, but I think the flexibility of being able to use an external tank should I run the MH tank dry is an added bonus. (I know I will NEVER use that feature, but it seems nice to have just as an option if I needed it) Being able to easily hook the grill to a 20lb bottle without reconfiguring makes sense for my application.

I appreciate the input!! It's always good to look at different ways to achieve the same goal!

This option works well for me (I did a little more than in the picture), as I have the gas port on the side of the TT, so I have one hose that goes BBQ to TT with quick release on both ends and a 2nd that has quick release to old BBQ reg, to whatever hose or portable tank connection you want (in my case) I just have a extension cable for green throwaway tanks but it could just as easily be a hose for running off a spare 20# tank. All you have to do is snap in the hose you want and you are grilling steak in minutes.

They removed the reg from the BBQ, but kept it and installed quick release connections on the BBQ and the reg, so they could quick release plug the hose directly into the BBQ using the reg on the RV and then if they wanted to run off the bottle again, they just quick release plugged in the reg and screwed in a bottle again.
I did this mod for my Weber and all it cost me was a pair of quick releases, 1 hose, a collar, and some gas tape. Got the collar and tape at Lowes and the quick releases and hose from my local RV dealer.

In any case... I think I get the gist of what you are saying... Add a "Tee" AFTER the MH regulator, put quick connects on the grill hose before/after the regulator and at the end that connects to the MH gasline. Connect or disconnect the regulator as needed for the application.

It is a thought, and seeing the write-up it might be cleaner than I picture it (I could see taking off the d*)n regulator and losing it somewhere).

On the other hand, if I connect BEFORE the MH regulator I could still run the MH gas appliances on a portable 20lb tank if I needed to -- something I couldn't do if I put the Tee AFTER the regulator.

Don't think I'm trying to shoot this down... It might have more merit than I am giving it credit since I can't actually see how they did it.

He wants to also be able to use the grill as originally intended, using the included regulator and hose pictured with a separate cylinder away from the RV. The setup he pictured will work fine, and will also give him the option of connecting an external cylinder if he wants to extend his stay somewhere without the need to fill the on board tank.
