The wife and I stopped at a small local dealership this am. They had a 2000 Safari Continental 41 1/2 ft. DP in front with a $49,995 sticker on it. We were curious as to what it looked like on the inside. We pulled in the lot and parked right at the rv hoping we could get a quick look without a salesman coming. It didn't happen, he showed 2 minutes later. The a/c vents were on the floor, the carpet was filthy and hadn't been cleaned in a long time. RV was filthy everywhere. He then proceeded to tell me that it was a one owner, and had reupholstered the driver and passenger seats, all new tires.... I asked why they hadn't cleaned it and his response was that it had come from their other dealership 50 miles away. Sure got dirty making that trip I guess.Mine is a 2001 and immaculate compared to this coach. Amazing the stories you get.

Dirty can be fixed pretty easily if that's all it is. But in most cases dirty means not taken care of too.

Probably on consignment I would bet. Dealers don't clean those up. However, as has been mentioned, if it's really dirty, makes you wonder what else has been not been done, like normal maintenance.

Same here, both our coaches were bought from the same dealer. They use a mulitpage check list that checks every system thoroughly and fixes anything no working properly. Than you do the walk through and anything you find get fixes. Last, we would spend 3-4 days living in it on their lot which gave us an opportunity to evaluate everything.

Granted you may pay more from a dealer but spend less.

This dealer assumes the PDI will cost them ~$10,000 and build that into the trade or consignment value.

Our coach up for sale has all of the above except the warranty. But in addition it has a brand new residential refrigerator and all the house systems works. But no real offers so far--oh well, we are still enjoying it, and have several trips planned!

Sounds like you got a great deal on a great coach. I just sold my 13 year old coach last month on CL and the dude that bought it got a smoking deal. What was new (TV's) were under mfg's warranty and the rest he had to take a chance on.

Try to buy from a individual, they are sometimes much cleaner.
