propane fridge

Our propane frige worked just fine when out west above 8000 feet. Never had to use electric because of altitude.

i read the remark on the RVtech web site...I had never heard of the "rule" will clean and try it at 3500 ft when I get home..wanted to boom dock a few days, but the fridge put a kink in that plan..thanks

Like everything on. or in a Motorhome, it needs a good "Proventive Maintence Program Schedules". The more of it that you do due, the less problems you will likely have, over-all.

For me. anyways, I love to always tinker on our Motorhome. I'm almost in or doing something to our Motorhome on a dailey basis. Probably one of the reasons that we have never broken down in the past 45+ years as RV'er's. So far in the 45+ years, I have done all of my own work on everything that we have ever owned

Try a good cleaning first, then if it still doesn't want to work correctly, then have the Propane Pressure checked.

As stated clean if not been done and have the pressure check. I live at 4500 and camp at and above the 9000 and have never had a issue. You did not say why the propane did not work. That might help get you a better answer. Does it light or will just not stay lite.

I too have never had an issue with refrigerator working on propane above 5000 ft.

Your LP pressure may NOT be at 11.5" water column. CORRECT LP pressure is critical at Altitude. If slightly low, that will affect cooling and flame height(BTU). Doug

Urban myth! When we got our first fiver our home was at 8512' (Summit County CO) and all our camping was above that! We found, even in our stick home that because of the elevation cooking things like potatos took more time! When in the trailer, using propane, cooking took about the same time! Higher elevation- less oxygen- less efficiency of heat source. But propane always worked fine, just a bit slower.

it won't stay lit..tried it this am and it burns for about a minute and then goes out.

THIS is NOT what you stated on your first post. The 1 minute and goes out means that the Flame sensor system is NOT working. You have one of two types. 1. The standard Thermocoupler and 2. The Spark electrode Flame sensor. That is the reason you are not staying lit. It is NOT the altitude. Doug

No problem with altitude, We live at over 5000 ft, never a problem, I think you received bad information.
