Questions About Leveling & Refrigerator

I have the coach described below. The dealer told me to dump the air bags then use the automatic levelers. Freightliner told me not to dump the air, the air would automatically dump when I started the leveling process. I don't hear any air being released when I turn on the levelers. I cannot find anything about leveling with air bags in the Fleetwood Owner's Manual nor can I find anything in the Freightliner manual.

The Maytag refrigerator icemaker doesn't work. The Maytag tech said it is not getting any water. Fleetwood told us the connection under the bathroom sink is probably not turned on. Neither the tech nor I could find the connection.

Can anyone offer any advice or point out someplace to look in an owner's manual.
  • Be sure to check for water leaks around the fridge. My Maytag ice maker quit working recently and the problem was that the line between the control valve and the ice maker had come loose. It does not leak a lot, just the amount required to fill the ice maker. I could hear the ice maker dry cycle and then could see a puddle under the fridge. I had to pull out the fridge and reconnect the line. I don't believe that it was installed properly at Maytag and will stay now. The only difficult part of the repair was getting the fridge out of the cabinet.

You probably don't have air leveling...just HWH hydraulic jacks. There are different control panels for the HWH jacks and their operation can be different. Dumping suspension air should be done whether by the HWH control panel or by a separate switch. Then you would level the coach with the HWH jacks.

Neither the tech nor I could find the connection. Most ice maker water connection is located in the outside inspection/maint panel. Typically it is just on the other side of the wall where the fridge is located. There will be a small valve with a clear/white 1/4" tubing going up to the back of the fridge.

  • What kind of jacks/leveling system?

If HWH hydraulic (non air leveling), the system will dump the bags before starting the leveling when you hit "auto-level". If you don't hear the bags dump, then they might have done so already.
  • Motorhome Air suspension systems with leveling jacks, the air usually dumps when you activate the jacks. There are some systems that have a separate dash button you have to push to dump the air bags. The reason to dump the air is to NOT have to overcome the raised height of the motorhome. The air bags will usually lift the motorhome 3 to 4 inches and that extra travel just means the jacks have to extend more. Freightliner is NOT an expert or even knows about leveling systems as they are after market. They are installed by the Coach builder. I would suspect your system is malfunctioning on the air dump, but until you post the Brand and type jack system nobody can help you. Regardless, IF the air bags do not dump, they WILL when the jacks hit the ground and start to raise the motorhome, because of the Freightliner level height arms. They will be moved by the jacks raising the RV. Look under the kitchen sink area for the water valve. Some Fleetwoods also have a filter and valve located in the outside lower storage compartments. • Be sure your water pump is turned on unless you are connected to a pressurized water source. OR no ice
  • Yours is newer than mine but my Fleetwood/Freightliner you dump, then level. I would call the main Fleetwood number.

It can take a day for the fridge to get cold enough to make ice.

There should be a valve behind the fridge you access from outside. It doesn't look like a valve. Small square device with a pin handle.

The electric fill solenoid is there too. Usually blue with a small flex tube coming out that goes up to the top of the fridge.

Loosen the input to see if there is water.
  • On my rv I push the levelers button 2 times. This starts the air being let out and when that is done the levelers level the coach.
  • I don't know about Fleetwood specifically, but if you have hydraulic jacks (not air level) the most common procedure is to dump the air and they allow the jacks to level the coach. This allows the least amount of travel to obtain the maximum result.
  • First is the ice maker turn on. I am assuming that this a electrical frig, so it should be cooling being a maytag. Then check cabinets, storage compartments. Slide a mirror and see if behind frig.

Can't help on the air, is level system air, hyd, or elec.
