Most dumpstations are inside of the gate which in order to pass through, you have to pay an entrance fee. Pick up the phone and call them. You will get a correct answer much sooner.
I hear you guys about paying a fee, which I wouldn't be opposed to doing. I just didn't know if a traveling RV pulled into the dump station would cause the campground hosts to give me trouble? Not planning on making it a habit just don't want to make waves... - cshamExplorer$10 non camper dump fee on all of the parks that I stay at.
- NYCgrrlExplorerIn the state parks I've been at in the NE you have to enter the campground (and further back, the dump station) by first passing through a toll type area to show your camping reservation. Many parks which might have other facilities are closed for the night to any other recreations so it's to the camp ground or no entrance thus no free dumping.
No idea how Missouri does it though. - dewey02Explorer III was camping at a Wisconsin State Park 2 years ago. We were camping for about 5 days, and while we were paid up to camp another day, we changed plans and pulled out early one morning (about 6 AM). On the way out, we decided we'd dump and the dump station was near the park entrance.
In the middle of dumping, the Ranger pulled up and wanted to know who we were and why we were using the dump station at that time of the morning. Once we explained that we had been camping (and showed him our permit), he explained to us that they'd been getting a lot of people sneaking in (the guard station was not yet manned at 7 AM) and dumping without camping or paying.
So it does happen. There are unscrupulous people out there. - 2gypsies1Explorer IIIMany parks are going the way of non-campers paying to dump to discourage non-campers from doing so. This puts an added strain on the facilities and some parks even have to have the waste hauled out.
Same goes for leaving your bag of trash in the dumpsters if you're just passing through. The parks pay/dumpster to have the trash hauled away.
We volunteered at a park that was on the way to great boondocking sites. Guess what happened on Sundays? Yep, many times we had to close the dump station because it was overfilled - an added cost to this popular state park and to the campers in the long-run. - D_and_A_plus_6ExplorerWe were at Knob Noster State Park last weekend, and I think I saw a sign at the dump site, Dump Fee $10 if not camping.

Per a Missouri State Park website
Many parks contain rules and policies that are specific to the individual park and its resources. Please call the individual park to inquire of specific rules and, upon your arrival, check the park's bulletin boards for additional rules.
Missouri has 40 State Parks and 33 have Dump Stations.
That's a lot of phone calling or individual website searching.
Bottom line......
IF there is a FEE.... PAY It
IF no Fee....donate a couple bucks for the use of the dump station
X2. I'd change that to donate $5. - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIIPer a Missouri State Park website

I've looked at the fees when passing through, but don't remember the details.
Also, if a fee is wanted, this will usually be posted at the dump station.
