Where is your portable generator when you travel

I didn't miss anything. You said your daughter never complained about fumes. I pointed out that "fumes", or smell, is not the real problem. CO can be present without the "fumes".

Unless your a full timer there is little likelihood of any real danger from fumes other than the danger presented by CO.

So even though this thread started out about "fumes" as opposed to CO I thought it was worth pointing out. I assume CO was the OP's real concern.

After owning 2 5th wheels I have I mounted them on a receiver hitch on the 5th that makes it close to the power plug in. There is all kinda ways to lock it down. Never had a problem with exhaust fumes or noise with my Honda 3000. Good luck

when stored..slide it in and lock compartment

I travel with it inside the camper, secured by surrounding objects and/or bungee cords. When it's running, it's outside the camper, sans bungee cords or surrounding objects.

I keep mine in the truck bed since it has factory 3 piece bed covers.
I also have a 30ft ext shore cord that allows me to put the gennie far away.
If sites are close, i can run it in the bed, with one cover off for ventilation. It also helps cut the noise down.

I have a camper shell on my p/up so I store my generators in the rear of the bed and also run them from there if we have no elect and it is hot. Many others also run there gen. Never had a problem with fumes

I would think that your rv is airtight enough so that Carbon Monoxide (CO) does not penetrate to the inside. CO (especially when hotter than surrounding air) is lighter than air and the tendency is for it to dissipate into the atmosphere. The exception would be within a confined space where there is no escape, which does not really describe the bed of a pickup.
