Norcold door problem

Broken part bottom hinge of door, where can i find diagram/ parts for thi ? not much luck on what Norcold sites i have visited.
  • my machinist friend is going to go the route of some metal etc, i sure am glad the part about the bottom trim was brought out, was going to pry off to work on it. mine pulled completely out of the foam junk, sure is a p--- poor design and Norcold should have bit the bullet and owned up to it.

Recommend you get a piece of metal to attach to the bottom of the door under the hinge after you "glue" the broken hinge back together. Drill a hole through the reglued hinge and the metal plate and then reinstall the door. That should be the last time you experience that failure on that door hinge. I have a piece of 1/8" metal attached to the bottom of the door and angled out to the hinge with a hole for the hinge pin.

Assuming that the door is similar construction to the Norcold NB811 I had, do not attempt to pry off the bottom trim strip as it is glued to the interior foam core of the door. I tried to make a metal strip for the bottom of the door, but there was nothing solid inside the door for screws to get a grip into....it's all foam.

I now have a nice Haier 120 volt refrigerator installed that we like.

  • Thanks gang ! for all the info, was considering the J B knew some one else must have had the sme or similar problem.
  • Try using JB Weld and add the Norcold RV Refrigerator Door Hinge Kit #634166, available at Amazon and elsewhere.
  • Norcold has a reenforcing kit to avoid the problem next time.

    Howdy!

We had problems with out Norcold 1200 door hinges breaking. Both times I removed the door and used J B Weld to glue the hinge back to the door. Never had a problem with them after that.

I know of some airplanes flying around held together by JB Weld. :W
