Unreliable Dometic Comfort Control System

The Dometic Comfort Remote Control has never been reliable.
Has anyone removed their Dometic system and just hung a regular T-stat on the wall instead?
What adventure am I in for?

Hey Chris, or anyone...

I replaced the unit just as described in last post above (also Camping World verified application with Dometic).
After my installation, the T-stat will not display anything, and the Dometic "initialization" process does not bring it to life.
I replaced the control box and T-stat a second time, still same problem.
Is T-stat device failure a common problem on this 3-wire version from the factory?
Any trouble shooting tips would be appreciated.

I have verified wiring schematic, voltages, continuity on cables and connections... nothing wrong in my installation (that I am aware of).

Next step is dump it off at Camp world and pay to have them deal with Dometic instead of me. Dometic customer (tech) support gets a "one star" rating from me after three days of emails and phone calls. ๐Ÿ˜ž

No offense, but it is YOU that is the problem. The Single Zone wall Tstat is used in hundreds of thousands of RV's and IF you know how to connect it, it works just find. Dometic Tech service is NOT for YOU. It is for qualified RV Technicians and your post shows WHY they should not have talked to you. You blame Dometic when it is your lack of knowledge that is the culprit. Trust me, your install is the problem. It is just 3 wires from the control box to the wall tstat. From your description, you have failed to get the 12 volt power control wire to the correct wires on the upper box. Doug

You will have to replace the control box on the air, and run thermostat wires, but the Dometic single zone LCD would be what you need. It requires 3 wires between the thermostat and roof top unit- 12 volt power, ground and data. The replacement box for the roof top unit should be plug and play- if the unit has a separate control box. The kit should be around $100.
I can look up specific number tomorrow.

I'd be reluctant to try a regular house thermostat. I just replaced the thermostat and control box on my older model 07 trailer, and the technology seems to be specific to Dometic.

Its a dometic duo-therm model 59516.531

It uses a four pin phone jack cable from IR receiver to main unit.. not sure if this is my wire set or a data cable?

Just part numbers after that:
IR0101 on the transmitter remote
A-1 Comp. PC0144 on IR receiver unit

It would depend on which system you have.
Locate model of the thermostat you have and post it.
