The Texas heat is officially upon us. My pregnant wife asked me politely to ask online if you guys and dolls can provide any creative ideas for cooling the trailer while driving. Our dealer specifically told me to make sure all Windoes and popup vents are closed tight when towing? Do you guys agree. When we went to pick up our trailer the other day it had to be 130 degrees inside. Takes quite a while to cool it off when it's that hot inside. Also, w it getting that hot inside I was wondering if it may be a good idea for is to take all our liquid products w us each time we come and go. Maybe a bag set up w all out cleaning products, toothpaste, shampoo etc, so it doesn't dry out ove the course of a few weeks???Thanks in advanceAG

Also, I have a Fantastic fan in the bathroom. As soon as we arrive at the campground we open a window and turn on the fan until we get the a/c going. We've been summer camping in Texas many years, so we have this procedure down.

I have the Maxxair vent covers over the top vents and always leave them open when traveling. Pulls a lot of the "hot air" out the vents while moving. I left a window cracked once and could not believe how much dust got in while moving. Won't do that again. Other than a generator sufficent to run the Air Conditioner, I don't see much else you can do. Maybe someone else has a few tricks.

Maxxair vent cover, turn on vent fan and put a skylight cover (the ones that fits into the skylight) it helps a lot from the sun beaming down into the TT, I prefer the silver ones.

Other than running air while driving, I can't think of anything...with the possible exception of driving at night.

I am thinking run a generator in the back of the truck if you want to run the air conditioner in transit. I find it is best to arrive late so the sun is going down and the RV cools faster. That or park and go out to dinner so it has time to cool. Or leave early enough to arrive and plug in by 9am or earlier. Depends on distance... maybe take the trailer a day early.

Plenty of times we arrive with a hot trailer pulling through the desert... to a point you just have to deal with it. Make sure you have everyone's favorite drinks prechilled.

I have done the generator in the bed of the pickup with the trailer plugged into it. Mostly though, I try to avoid places that are that hot.

Another alternative is like someone suggested travel of a morning and check in before it gets to hot.

I have done this in the past pulling off by noon, plunging in, crank the A/C down and hit the pool for a swim. Come back to the trailer have a snack a nap and have a nice supper. I would leave early in the morning to repeat the process.
