Dishwasher pods and Black Tank leftovers

I've never tried that, so can't attest to it's effectiveness. However, the GEO Method has always worked for me. Never had a tank-sensor failure.

Try the Geo Method or something similar.

I have done it, might help some. Won't hurt anything. If you are going to sit empty for a week or so, put in water and add some septic tank enzymes.

Just add some regular detergent and let it slosh around for a while. It will do the same thing as the pods, probably faster, because it will not take a while to dissolve.

I've never felt the need to clean the black tank in any RV I have owned. It is a sewage holding tank, the only time it was clean was before the first use.

The Bigfoot came from a rental fleet, and I wasn't sure of the condition of the tank, so I wanted to clean it to see if they had done any rinsing flushing of the tank. I used the suggestion of another member on these forums and half filled the tank and used dishwasher powder. Drove for about 2 hours to the campground and dumped the tank on the way in.
I have one of the clear extensions, and the crud that came out was a lot. I don't think I have seen that amount dump after regular use.
So yes it works. I can't attest to the pods working as well as they outer packaging has to dissolve first, but the regular powder or liquid dishwasher works very well.

The OP didn't say anything about a "clean" black water tank and was only asking if dishwasher pods might help minimize "leftovers" and "stubborn sludge" in the tank ... seems like a reasonable question. I too use The Geo Method when I service my tanks and although I've never thought of using dishwasher pods I may try some Dawn detergent this season in place of powdered detergent I had been using. And why? ... because I can, without approval from anyone. :B
