Hoy no circula

I still do not want to argue with anyone. I have research extensively on the internet about this and have posted links where answers can be found. On the following website which I previously posted they list the 125 munipios in the State of Mexico. Teotihuacan is a municipio. Coacalco is a municipio. On their list and their map that follows they show Coacalco de Berriozabal as number 020 on the map and Teotihuacan as number 092 on the map. This would appear to me that Teotihuacan is not in Coacalco. Perhaps there is another Teotihuacan. I cannot find it. Some use the term San Juan Teotihucan. My maps do not show that name. There is a Teotihuacan de Ariste which is in the municipio of Teotihuacan which is where the pyramids are located. Perhaps you can look at this website to find more of a clarification. I will try to post more maps which may help. It is very difficult to find Coacalco on the map as it is very small. It is sort of purple on the map – Teotihucan is sort of brown – all municipios are numbered on the website and on the map. I continue to try to find facts and to post clearly where I find my facts. Hopefully others will do the research and post the facts and where we can find them as I have always done.

Here are the number and named municipios you would have to pass through from the Arco Norte to get to see the pyramids of Teotihuacan. They do not appear on the previous posted list of municipios in the Hoy No Circula.

If you came from the direction of Queretero from the north to get to Teotihuacan I think you would pass through these two municipios which are on the list of Hoy No Circula. Hopefully this will help to get a more clear picture.

Are you saying foreign plated vehicles are OK any day after 11 AM, or do their plate numbers prevne them on certian days as well?

San Juan Teotihuacan is part of the Municipio of Coacalco Estado de Mexico, hoy no circula aplies, one day per week depending on the last number of the licence plate and or the color of the tag and foreign plated vehicles do not ciculate before 11:00 AM and on Saturdays also based on the last number of the licence plate.

I live at the present moment in Mexico, in Ciudad Satelite, Estado de Mexico, I can not drive before 11:00 AM on fridays since my plate is all letters and can not drive on Saturday and that is the law.

We will likely use the green angels. We can hire them for a day to escort us in and out. with 7 rigs it will only cost us 150 pesos each.

Why not have someone from the rv park lead you? Put it on their back.

The only way I can see to completely avoid the zone on the way in to Mina's is to take the Arco Norte and come in from there - more miles but less risk. Mina communicates very well in English and will help you with the routes

I have conflicting info from Mina. I wrote her in Spanish and she sent me this:

I just talked to Mina, the owner of the Teotihuacan RV Park, she said that the "Hoy no circula" applies before 11:00 a.m. but not later, I told her that we are still checking on the dates and routes...

She said she will check next Monday with the Federal Police based in her area so we can work in the planning.

Maybe the park is not in the zone, but you have to cross it to get there.

The after 11 am is no issue, but if that is the case, the plate restrictions one day a week & saturdays should apply. Easy for an individual to avoid, not so easy for a group. Now of course you can get the 2 week exemption but if your rig is over 15 years old you cant. So in a group I guess you have to hope maybe only 1 or 2 rigs are over 15 eyars old and avoid those days either arriving or leaving. Time it to arrive on a sunday which appears to have no restrictions. Mind you, leaving you could pull out just before 5 Am and head for a pemex station just outside the zone.

I do not claim to know anything about this. I went on the various websites where the Hoy No Circula is explained by the Mexican Government Agencies or whatever they are where these things are explained and listed - as shown above. I used my map program to try to locate each municipio - which may or may not be located exactly where the town of the same name is since municipios are sort of like counties containing more than one town. So I located the DF places named as well as the locations in Mexico State. I put flags at or near each municipio. There are 16 in DF and 18 in Mexico State. Now the map has a bunch of flags which may or may not give some idea or where the Hoy No Circula extends. I do not know more than what the websites I listed above state. I did the best I could at creating a map based on the information they provide. I do not believe Teotihuacan is in the zone but I do not know for sure. Last I heard Mina says it is not. The websites do show Teotihuacan as a municipio in Mexico State but it is not on the list of municipios in the zone.

I do not want to argue nor to I make any claims about knowing the facts. On the websites I have found about Hoy no Circula they state there are 18 municipios in Mexico State which are in the zone. Other websites state there are a total of 125 municipios in Mexico State. To me that indicates there are 107 municipios in Mexico State which are not in the zone. This website (below) lists all 125 of the municipios in Mexico State. I am no authority – just trying to find information that may be of use. I believe perhaps confusion might be due to the fact that much of Distrito Federal is in the zone but that is not Mexico State – though it is a huge part within the area of Mexico State. It does appear not all of Mexico State is in the zone. These are just a few of the many websites where more can be learned about Hoy no Circula. Though Teotihuacan (and many other municipios) is in Mexico State it does not appear on the list of municipios in the zone.

San Juan Teotihuacan and the ruins are in the Estado de Mexico and the hoy no circula aplies, some folks drive in the day that the vehicle is not supposed to circulate, if they get caugt 200 pesos is the tickdt out, just ask my brother in law, he got caught not far from San Juan Teotihuacan.

Some of the maps show the wrong borders, there is one that has a couple of states that do not exist.
