- Gene_GinnyExplorerIt is IGGY'S Doughboys & Chowder House in Point Judith. Link I prefer the clam cakes from Aunt Carrie's but their clam chowder in not that good. Be aware that RI clam cakes are nothing like Maine clam cakes that are mostly clams.
The "summer cotages" of the rich in Newport are impressive, to say the least. Cliff walk in Newport will give you a fantastic view of the ocean AND the back side of many of those "summer cotages". - D___MExplorer

Take the Newport mansion tour, go to Point Judith and eat some clam fritters at Eggys chowder house, then take the ferry to Block island. Fisherman's memorial is a very nice state park if they aren't full.
In addition to these suggestion and the ones above, Providence has some great restaurants in Little Italy. After dinner you can go down to the river and see "WaterFire" - Dick_BExplorerDo a Google search for `Rhode Island tourism' and read on.

This would be me for a week in June each year, including picking up food at Eggy's and eating at the lighthouse. Point Judith from Fisherman's is a nice area for biking too. - yankee_camperExplorerForgot about Block Island... that is a very nice way to kill a day. Lots of outdoor entertainment, concerts etc. Rent mopeds and tour the island. Ballards right when you get off the ferry is a good starting point.

- yankee_camperExplorerStay at Fisherman's Memorial Campground. From there you can head out to Newport, lots of shops and site seeing...Mansions, Cliffwalk. Battleship cove in nearby Fall River Ma. is great to see if you're a history buff. There is a new train station in South Kingston that you could take the train (it's called the T around these parts)into Providence or Boston if you wish. Living in RI I probably take too much for granted as far as what "I" might call an attraction, but we've go the BEST restaurants and beaches around. If you're a lobster lover and don't mind shelling out a $100 bucks a head check out the Nordic Lodge in Charlestown. All you can eat lobster, everything seafood ,fillet mignon and dessert bar to die for.
- DrbolaskyExplorerWorks for me - thanks!
Anyone else? - AcampingwewillgExplorer IIHaving been born in R.I., I know very little since I was a mere 2 year's old when arriving in Los Angeles BUT each and every time we make our way back there, there's one place we Love...thats in Olneyville, near Providence. OK OK, its an eating place but called The New York System(has been featured on TV several times)...they serve what myself and our family agree's is the best Weiner(hot dog if you will) on earth.
Funny thing is just today I was informed there is a Best in the Country list of 75 of the greatest Hot Dog eateries....The New York System was #11 and our own Pink's Hot Dog's in Hollywood was #2....a place in Chicago was #1.
Also while while in RI, try a Dell's lemonade. That's all I got...Have a Great Time!
