A&E Weather Pro Awning Electric Motor Replacement.

Anyone out there ever replace their A&E Weather Pro Awning Electric Motor?

My awning will not extend. Can hear the motor kick in when I hit the retract button. Can't hear motor kick in when I hit the extend button.

Think the motor needs to be replaced.

First I need to remove the motor and check both directions again to make sure it's a motor problem and not a wedged awning arm.

What are the tricks or key points to get the motor out?

Went out to YouTube to look for a video on how to remove the motor but no luck.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

  • OK, problem partially solved. Found out that if the wind sensor is clogged or something else the awning will not extend. It locks out the motor so it will not open. It will close but not open.

So I read the instructions and turned off the wind sensor function with the remote. I then hit the open button on the remote and the awning opened. So now I need to figure out why the wind sensor is in the lock position.

I washed the RV last week and maybe flushed some debris into the sensor. Will check it out tomorrow. Will post the results.
  • Yes, I had mine replaced last spring. It was a two man job. They also replaced the torsional spring at the other end of the tube.

The motor leads should be accessible in the arm.

    Call me if you want.

  • OK, checked the extend/retract rocker switch in the RV, it's ok. Used a short jumper to bypass the switch. Same as using the remote, motor clicks in the retract mode but not the extend mode.

It's either the control board or the motor. Easier to check the motor rather than the circuit board. If I can access the motor I'll just reverse the leads, retract wire to the extend connection and see if the motor kicks in.

So back to my original question, has anybody out there ever accessed their motor? If so, what tips do you have?
  • OK guys, I'll check the rocker switch. Didn't think it was the switch because the remote control won't extend it either. Are the two in series? If one doesn't work the other wont either?

    Thanks for your input.

Mandalay Parr, OK any suggestions on what the problem may be?

The rocker switch as stated above or,on mine there is a control box that contains a relay.

  • It sounds like the rocker switch. This is common and simpler to check than pulling the motor.
