- Bruce_BrownModerator^^^ Hmmm, I'm sure I'd fall into the "not" category, but you'd be missing out on a gem. The reason I don't wash my roof is it hasn't needed it. It's garage kept and does get any maintenance it may need, which honestly has been almost none. The sealer still looks good, there are no leaks, and the roof looks almost as good as the day it was installed.
Then again, I'm not looking to sell it, so no worries. :B
I will say when we had our Fleetwood Flair with the rubber roof it got washed all the time. That was about the only way to slow down the streaking. - GundogExplorer IIAfter reading through this I know which people I wouldn't mind buying a used coach from and which ones I wouldn't. Unfortunately I think I bought one from someone who did no or very little roof maintenance. I got lucky and it was garage kept and I fixed all the problem areas 3 or 4 holes from branches I am guessing and cracked caulk around just about every penetration the roof had.
- irishtom29ExplorerI have the coach, including the roof, washed twice a year.
- wvabeerExplorerI wash mine once a year. usually during the summer.
- 3_dog_nightsExplorereverytime it rains
- JoeHExplorer IIII have a fiberglass roof and it gets washed 4-5 times a year when we stop back home between trips. 2x a year, it gets waxed along with the rest of the coach. While up on the roof, I get to check the dicor and other seals and repair/replace as needed.
- 10forty2ExplorerOnce a year, at the beginning of the season when we take her out of storage. That's when I inspect the seams and seals as well. I use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, (actually a couple boxes of them) and get on my hands and knees. Not sure how many more years I will be able to do that as old age creeps up on me. Climbing the ladder on the back of the rig is the worst part. I keep envisioning it breaking loose from the RV about time I reach the top......
- doxiemom11Explorer IIAt least 2X per year unless we are in a real dusty area, or sitting under trees. It would need it more often then to avoid black streaks from all the gunk.
- NMDriver2ExplorerWhen I drive through a rain storm, about once every 3-5 years. I did scrub it before putting Hengs rubber roof down a year ago. It is 26 yrs old and had a few spots that needed a re-coat of a top coat, so I did the whole roof.
- Jayco-noslideExplorerMy MH has a fiberglass not a rubber roof. Once or twice a year I squirt some Dawn on a third of the roof and go over it with a soft to medium bristle brush with handle and rinse. I'm really not sure that washing it really accomplishes a whole lot. Probably more important to get up there and check for bad or loose calk. Maybe getting some tree sap off is good but I doubt it.
