power gear leveling system

I have a pacearrow by fleetwood, my question is about the leveling system as I recieved no manual with it. does anyone know if the power source for the system comes from the main truck battery or the coach batteries. And this is the power gear system and do you put the rear jacks down first then the front or does it matter I believe they are self leveling but not 100 percent sure on that. new to rving and not sure. thanks for all your help on this toppic.
  • Thanks Arnold I will keep that in mind when searching for parts.
  • Try ebay. I got what I needed for mine on it about a year ago. Also try NW RV Supply. I think they are in Eugene Oregon. Pho 866-678-7467 They are extremely helpful. Best to you as you search. Arnold
  • I want to thank everyone who responded to my post. I finally had time to look at and find my issue with the right rear jack not working, It turned out to be the wire that goes to the right valve solenoid looks like the spade connector that the wire goes in had corroded off. so that's my issue now. I have the power gear hydraulic leveler system on my coach. looks like I just need to replace the solenoid that slides on to the rod to turn the valve. I hope I can just get that part somewhere. From what I have seen the model I have is 500105E and the powergear website is saying that model is discontinued. so I will be calling them to see if I can at least get the solenoid for that. fingers crossed.Hopefully I will not have to replace the whole unit for just a bad solenoid.
Any else ever had any issue with wire rot on the solenoid and did you just replace that or did you have to replace the whole valve. thanks for your time. Mike

Does it really matter which battery??? If they only operate with the key turned it is the coach, if they operate any time it is the house.

On my fleetwood, they are not self leveling and instructions say to do the rear first, level l/r then do the front. If they are self leveling you just press a button and they do what they want until level.

This is not true. A LOT of jack systems operate(pump power) off the COACH batteries. BUT, the Touch pad and E Brake control part is activated by the CHASSIS battery. So, you can never be sure which batteries operate your specific Motorhome without you checking. Even the Same OEM(Fleetwood) never uses the exact same wiring and batteries on various models. It all depends on where the Jack Motor pump is located and which sets of Batteries are located by that pump. If one set is closer, they may use those batteries instead, but there is no HARD rule on any brand of motorhome. Doug
  • My coach, the pump works off the 12V "starter" battery..but the control pad runs off the 2 6V coach batteries.
Mine says to raise the front jacks first, then the back,to level front to back. then level as needed using the bubble. The rear jacks do the side to side leveling, the front jacks are the "slave" jacks...following the rear side to side jacks. Then...fine tune after that. Be aware, tho, that extending/retracting any slide(s) will change the level. So...my opinion is to have the slides OUT....THEN put the jacks down.
  • Thanks again all for all the support and info. And yes it's the main battery and the E-brake has to be set also. Also my model has three jacks two for the rear and one in front. Thanks to all who responded.
  • You didnt say what year you have, my 05 Pace Arrow is through the Main battery I assume and the engine has to be running for them to work. Our Power Gear Jacks you extend all together when they all hit the ground you can then operate front to back or side to side either extending or retracting, You can retract all at once also

  • Call Fleetwood, ask for customer service. You will get a live very qualified person who will tell you just what you need to know and send you the manual.
  • Since the coach manufacturer (not the chassis maker) installed the leveling system, it could be either battery being used. If you have battery disconnects, you can experiment to determine the answer.

You really need a manual since there are several versions of power gear leveling systems, including 3 and 4 leg varieties.

Some have two cylinders for the rear, and only one for the front. Another version has two cylinders for the rear and two for the front, but the fronts are plumbed together so that they "follow" the body roll caused by the back cylinders. At least for the 4 cylinder type, it is very important to raise the front at least 2 inches before deploying the back cylinders.

If you google "power gear leveling system manual", you will find multiple selections. Maybe within these you will find a manual that describes your system.

The link below seems to have a lot of the manuals.
