Just a reminder to those traveling on 95 this weekend and have to go through DC.There is a rumor that long haul truckers intend to shut down the Inner Loop of the Beltway in protest to the silliness going on downtown. Some say real, some say hoax. Real or HoaxEither way, I think things will be screwed up at least a little more then normal. I Haven't seen any big gatherings of trucks, like I did when the bikers came in a couple of weeks ago. But who know?Govern yourselves accordingly.

This morning we had a pedestrian fatality on 295 that shut it down and a tractor trailer over turn on 495 that buried a car in garbage. That was shut down also. Pretty much bottled up the north-south route for the east coast for a couple of hours.Its not unusual to sit stopped on 495 on any day. This will just be another day at the Beltway Beach.

If they want to make people notice something different on the beltway, they should stage a SPEED UP, not a SLOW DOWN. Nobody is going to notice a slow down on I-495.

Well, I listen to channel 128 on Sirius radio early mornings and they were talking about this today. Sounds like it is real. Most of the truckers calling in were asking for the trucks participating to be very careful and don't get carried away with emotions. We will see.

Watching the local news this AM. Looks like the truckers blockade isn't going to happen. One reporter went to the rally point in VA and there were...TWO...trucks parked there. Probably sleeping. LOL

I really doubt the current bunch of truckers will pull this off. We tried to do it in the mid 1970s, and again in the early 1980s. The guys were not organized back then, and these guys are less organized today. Today is to much dog eat dog cut throat trucking. Tried to convince them back then to concentrate not delivering to one major wholesaler area, but most kept right on running. They couldn't afford to shut down.

Gotta love that logic. Have the national guard shut it down so the truckers can't.

Social media will be the downfall of the paranoid. Get a good threat of a protest going and the government will do the rest.

I think someone got their news stories crossed. The National Guard troops are controlled by State governments and as goofy as my governor is, Marty O'Malley wouldn't agree to killing commerce in his state. Shutting down the Beltway would close the major North-South corridor. The Beltway is 65 miles in circumference. I don't see truckers wasting that much time or fuel just to ride in circles. These may be some disruptions, but traffic will move.

I suspect I wont notice a thing. There will be enough crashes and breakdowns to have the area moving at a snails pace like every other day.

Vets are being offered rides with a trucker thru their local VFW's whether they are members or not.

Vets have a rally with Special Operation Speaks in DC on 10/13.

This is a peaceful event. They are self policing and won't tolerate anyone trying to cause harm to anyone. They invite all to join in.
If you can't go... don't buy anything online or in stores 10/11,12,13.
