synthetic oil
I have a Ford Triton V10 and it calls for 5-20W synthetic blend. I can get a really good deal on Mobil 1 5-30W full synthetic is this ok or am I going to have issues with the higher weight?

If I'm not mistaken the only reason they use 20w is to get better mileage.
If you are running hard I would see no problem (might actually be better) with a higher Viscosity oil- we ran it all the time in our heavy equipment with out an engine failure (30 years) . But what would I know I only got 10,000 hours out of my equipment and 500,000 miles out of my old 7.3 Ford diesels.

I wouldn't change to a different oil if someone gave it to me. The oil spec'd will give you the best performance, why chance serious problems with something else?
