Need advice on best TPMS to use. A few days ago I ruined a tire by continuing to drive with a flat. The tread seperated but I was able to find a nail in it . I think if I had known the pressure was dropping I could have saved the tire by not driving as it was losing air.Needless to say it ruined my day. An hour or so in 97 degree weather changing the tire on the side of a busy highway, then about a half a day in a tire store and I ended up Spending over $2000 dollars to replace all tires. They were approaching four years of age and I just didnt want any more trouble. Felt extreamly lucky that It didnt happen to me when going over Slumgullion Pass in Colorado where I had been about An hour earlier. A few days from now I will going over the Million Dollar Highway.Anyway I started thinking about a TPMS. Are the sending units attached to the valve stems or do they replace the valve stems. Appropriate cost and any other informationyou care to offer. Thanks

They are like ins on helpful when you need them. I went years without them.bought a T S T system may never need it. But it makes me feel better.

TST is great, also great customer service. The peace of mind is worth every penny of the cost. :)

TST 507 seems to be the most popular one. But there are at least a couple other brands some seem happy with also.I have never had a low tire, but with the TST I can see the pressures any time I want while driving, and it will alarm if a tire does go low.

They have saved me on 3 occasions. When U get one, get the type with replacable batteries so U don't have to buy new sensors every 4 years.

Am looking into Pressure Pro (made in the USA) to replace our TST's. I've been e-mailing back and forth with Steve Berry (CEO of L&S Safety) and his answers have been very enlightening.

Sensor loss and how/when it shows up (or doesn't) is actually a monitor issue. TireMinder is coming out with something that may help with that. TM also gives you a repeater/booster with every system they sell, which is nice.

We're also checking into EEZRV. They seem to be getting very popular.

Btw, haven't seen or heard the word "slumgullion" for ages. Wow! :)

I like my TST 507 but don't feel good enough about it to recommend it. I had questions about the length of time it takes for the monitor to recognize that a sensor connection had been lost, and they were never answered. They kind of danced around the issue by saying the issue is resolved if you have a repeater, which is sold separately. But no comments about how long you can go without realizing you've lost connection with one or more of your sensors.

One poster had the TST and had a flat and it never showed up on the monitor. Possibly because of the the above mentioned issue.

If I were buying a TPMS now, I would look hard at the Pressure Pro, or one of the others. I've kind of lost faith in the reliability of my TST.

Another vote for TST. They took excellent care of me... they replaced for free a unit I damaged by running up against a tall curb. Classy outfit.
