RV's with free standing dining tables

Our table is bolted to the floor and our chairs have never moved in 25K miles.

We lay down our 2 chairs in the dinette slide space for travel. We had our table tip over in transit once (bumpy road or speed bump?). Now we put weights on the table legs for transit. We prefer booths, but it would block pRt of our fireplace in our floor plan.

I have a booth and a free standing table. Initially, I had the table mounted onto a fixed pedestal. The table was able to rotate. After two pedestal fails, I mounted folding leg sets to the table bottom. They were about $20 at a Big Box store. Now, the table can be moved to accommodate seating, folded and set on the seat brackets to make into a bed, or even used outside (although we've never done that).

Hi.. Our first 5th wheel had free standing chairs. The second 5th wheel has a booth. We like the booth because it is more comfortable and easier to travel with. Chairs always need to be laid down for travel... Jim2007.

Our last TT had table and chairs and I liked them. There was a strap to hold them in place but we didn't use it.

We have a table and chairs. Our table top actually slides a few inches to one side to make access to the back chair easier. Grandkids have been frequent visitors and have never had a prioblem even as they got older. A large person likely would though. We can also swivel our table 90 degrees. No noticible carpet wear. Chairs (4) ride fine with no straps.

We just picked up a used model with a free standing table last week. It wasn't our preferred option.

Before we did, we checked and online you can find booths that can be easily retrofitted. So far not crazy about the free standing table as it is more of a hassle to get in and out (especially the furthest over seat). Plus you lose all that storage under it.

Not sure if we will swap it out yet but so far not a big fan.

Our 22 year old 5th wheel has a free standing dining table with 4 chairs. We have towed this 5th wheel across the country and back, over dirt roads to offroad races, on good and bad roads.... we do not strap down the table or chairs. Once in a while one or two of the chairs will move during travel. None have fallen over.

The carpet doesn't show any more wear than other areas of carpet. It's not difficult to get into either inside chair, just slide from the outside chair to the inside chair. Most of the time we put the table in the middle of the floor. Because we added one of these desks:

We originally turned our table 45 degrees. Not so much for better sitting arrangements, but so it was easier to pass between the kitchen sink counter and the table when the slides were in. We went for 4 chairs to 2. Later, we removed the table completely when we put in a couch. We never used the table anyway, at least, not to eat from.




The trailer came with these on the floor and it came with straps to hook into them. Each kitchen chair had a way to strap to the floor to keep from moving. These worked so well, I added more and use them for securing everything now. The additional ones are hangers you put on the back of a picture frame. I just used a heavier screw on the floor. These are small, blend into the carpet, and very, very easy to add.










I even put a couple on the factory provided hide-a-bed couch. The bottom is a drawer that slides out. Unfortunately, when driving, the drawer always slid out. Simple solution? I added one of these same hooks on each side of the couch and use a clip strap to keep the drawer shut when in transit.



Wear on your carpet under the table? It won't be any different than anywhere else on the floor.

That's a great idea! We'll have to look at an actual trailer to see if that would work.
