Thanks for your input. Some years ago, I did stay at Port of Cascade Locks campground in a smaller motorhome. Loved it! Won't stay there now with the 12' underpass limit. I'll probably try Bridge of the Gods Motel/RV Park or Cascade Locks KOA. Or maybe Ainsworth State Park. Any opinions?
Didn't think about the 12 ft clearance. Only time we stayed there we were in a 2004 National Tropi Cal which only needed 12'1".
Can't help too much with any of the other parks, you will have the same problems of freeway noise and trains no matter what you pick as you are crammed in between the gorge and the river. My personal opinion is you can't go wrong at an Oregon state park. - JanssExplorer IIThanks for your input. Some years ago, I did stay at Port of Cascade Locks campground in a smaller motorhome. - bdpreeceExplorer IIA lot of it is just 1 or 2 lane with stop lights. Not that bad you just can't make any time. When you get to I5 you need to go South about 2 miles to catch I205 North. Have a safe trip.
Don't know what you have planned but the Port of Cascade Locks has a nice rv park and if you have time there are sternwheeler trips from the docks there. This is also a good base to see Multnomah Falls, and visit the Vista House at Crown Point.
Hope you enjoy our state. - JanssExplorer IIYeah, I'll go up to Sherwood. I don't mind some traffic. I've driven the RV in Phoenix and also I-5 through Seattle in traffic. Can't imagine it's worse than that. I'll only be driving 100 miles or less on that day, so no problem if there is a slow up.

From there if you don't mind back tracking a bit I would take 99W south to 22 into Salem I5 north to I205. The other option is 18 toward Portland turning off at Sherwood to I5 south about a mile to I205. But that way involves a LOT of miserable traffic.
If you avoid morning and evening rush hours the traffic is not all that bad going through Sherwood and Tualatin. 22 to Salem is abut 40 miles further and you have to drive practically through the middle of Salem and that can be a pain also. - JanssExplorer IIThanks for your response!

- JanssExplorer IILooks like it's unanimous! Thanks everybody!
donn0128....We are specifically going to McMinnville from Newport to go to the Evergreen Aviation Museum. After that we are going to the Columbia River Gorge area, so I assume I just get to I-5 from McMinnville, then take 205 to loop around Portland to I-84, right? Do you know the best way for this leg? - CottontopExplorer101 to 18
- US 101 to OR 18 Easy scenic drive.
