Sewer compartment on 2002 Itasca Suncruiser

Get rid of the slinky. I like using this better Sewer Solution.

From the suggestions I'm seeing, I think some people aren't familiar with what the Winnebago sewer hatch from that generation looks like.

The smaller holes on the side are actually intended to be for running the electrical cable and fresh water hoses alongside the sewer connection with all three dropping, side by side, out of the bottom of the compartment.

Sorry folks, that ain't gonna happen on my watch as my fresh water hose will never be in that close proximity to my sewer hose nor will it ever be on the bottom of that compartment.

Why sweat it? All three, sewer, water, and electric are run out through the compartment door which is left slightly ajar. There's nothing in there worth stealing and I've never had a problem with "critters" crawling in. The only thing the sewer hatch is used for is for drainage when I rinse the compartment.

Thanks so much for all your suggestions. There is a picture of the hole in the thread referenced by tderonne. Makes it look like Mickey Mouse...ha ha! The odd shape of the hole is because left and right of center goes (in my case) the fresh water hose and the back flush hose. I don't even know why the black swiveling cover is not the same exact shape as the white hole. Anyone know the answer to that?

I think I would bolt a piece of plywood or masonite down over the hole and drill the large hole thru the "sandwich".

They make larger sewer rings. I would remove the old one, enlarge the hole and put in a larger ring.

Another more difficult repair.....depending how your sewer bay is framed, you can cut out a 4" notch in the frame where the door seals to it and run the hose through the notch/hole. You may have to bolt/weld in a metal support where you notch the frame. Put a trap door on it when done and you'll no longer have to feed the hose through the hole.

Not too big of a deal to enlarge the hole. You can go to a marine supply place like Overton's and get a porthole/access-cover that is larger. It'll have the larger flange included that you need to replace the one you remove. Your biggest problem will be figuring out how to cut a 7" hole evenly from the smaller one.......FWIW...they do make 7" hole saws... ;-)

I have a 1998 Itasca and when I first went to use it I found that the hole was too far to the right to clear the bayonet fitting. I removed the ring that the compartment lid screws into, cut the hole on the left side about 1/4" larger (still able to be covered by the ring) and remounted the ring. It's tight but works.

Yup the hole in the bottom of the sewage bay is too small.
Also the cover for it does not stay in position. Don't even bother trying to use it.

And even if you had a hose that did fit thru it......

Think about it you would have to get on your knees to feed it in from the beginning end of the hose up to hook up. OR Feed the 'whole' darn sewer hose thru the hole from the top down. :R

The whole idea of using that hole in the bottom of the sewage bay for dumping is just ridiculous!

1. Cover that hole up!!
The cap (if you even have it)does not stay seated and dirt, road debris, critters etc get right into your bay thru that opening.

I got a square piece of hard plastic and screwed the corners down on the floor of the bay using real wide washers for a tight fit that covered that useless hole up.

2. Buy a rigid hino collapsible sewer hose.

Open bay
Hook up Rhino Sewer Hose to dump valve, run out the bay door and run to septic. Done. :W

Your coach will always be higher than the dump station so trust me it will dump out. The Rhino sewer hose will show it the way.:B

We had the same problem, so I made up a short hose to go through the hole. Made it to be stretched just a bit when installed. I put a connector on one end, sealed with goop andclamped. attached that to the drain connector inside the bay. Stretched it through the hole, then installed connector on the outside end with goop and clamp. When released, it fits right up against the outside of the hole. A cap for the outside connector, with a retainer strap to keep from losing the cap. DW added two snaps and a velcro strap across the outside to hold it in place firmly. I would like to use hard pipe fittings, but the angle doesn't fit manufactured pieces, so I will need a roundtoit to make it fit. The flex hose has worked for five years so far.
