Using elbow fitting for water hookup

I have a brass 90 degree connection along with a brass quick connect and the water hoses come with the quick connects already installed. At the faucet end I have a Y with shut offs and the pressure regulator and a quick connect to the outlet where I connect the water hose. This way the hose etc is also protected by the pressure regulator. The y shut off unit allows me to clear the pressure in the hose when we are disconnecting, without getting an unplanned shower from the disconnection.

I am guessing from the OP that the water near Yuba City may be some rough water on the metals. I am/have changed over to plastic hose ends splitters etc. We spent 6 weeks in Yuma and the brass splitter was solid with hard water crud.

Come to think of it, the one I use looks like it's actually made from a copper elbow. It may be stronger than the cast parts I see in the stores.

I use a brass 90° elbow. I've been using the same one since 1974!

I purchased one from the hardware store, I think Homedepot, in the lawn and garden section. It is brass and has lasted for many years. I also have a one foot white hose attached to the elbow making hookup even easier.

We found the same thing to be true. Now, we leave the elbow attached all time, with a rubber plug for traveling, and just hook the hose up to it. Solved the problem for us.

I haven't had the Camco 60's or 90's fail in 8 years of full-timing. I do carry a used prescription container of rubber hose in the wet bay area.

Use a decent quality rubber washer and change it yearly instead of those plastic looking jobs that come with so much of that kind of stuff now. If you are out of hose washers and have a leaker sometime you can buy a little time by turning the washer over.

Dave.....Buy a metal male/female quick connect from Lowes/HD and permanently affix the male end to the coach. Connect the female end to the elbow and the water hose. Tighten them all with pliers. Now, all you have to do is quick connect the hose to the coach and not mess with any threaded connections. This makes life easy.

If you use an inline water regulator, attach it to the elbow before the hose or attach it the female end of the hose. Connect to water, and snap the quick connect to the coach and you're done.
