Norcold N611 trouble cooling on propane

I have a 2015 x19H and for 6 trips it worked well but now my Norcold fridge doesn't cool on LP. When on AC works fine and cools it down normally. I always keep it on 5 (coldest setting).

It lights fine, no blinking lights and green and amber light are on. Nice blue flame at flue.
Dealer had it for 48 hours said it ran fine for 24 on AC then fine for 24HRS on LP and wouldn't keep it longer.

Just got it home, plugged in for 24 hours on ac and refer at 33 freezer at -10. then switch to LP and 24 hours its the same. now at 48 HRs freezer is at -5 and refer is at 45f.

No blinking lights. flame looks blue. no other know issues.
any thoughts?

Brand new and the FIRST thing to check is the LP pressure. PERIOD. Doug

Thanks. Yes I spoke a to person at Jayco and they said to follow Norcolds recommendation of taking it to one of their authorized repair centers which I am next Friday. The dealer I bought mine at has given me zero confidence and they really don't seem to care. Frankly I don't think ill ever go back there. I feel more confident with the person I spoke with though who is actually local to me. I will report back with what we find. He is thinking it may be the spider webs in the burner tube?

I had a similar issue, where it would work perfect on AC but not at all on LP. The dealer said that the cooling unit needed to be replaced. I was skeptical, because it worked fine on AC, but it was replaced under warranty (aftermarket), so I didn't complain.

They replaced a GOOD cooling unit. A cooling unit does NOT CARE what the Heat source is to cool. If your dealer replaced for no cool on LP but cooled on 120, your concern about who cares it was under warranty, just means what are they going to misdiagnosis and charge you for after the warranty is up. Replacing the Cooling Unit in this case would have been $1000 plus mistake if not under warranty. I would NOT trust that Dealer to work on my RV. Doug

John, I can't see your top vent from the pictures mine has 4 screws and the cover comes off. Under warranty I won't just let the dealer fix it but post back here what they found. Good Luck.

Have you rechecked freezer/food section temps....are they still increasing on propane?

Yes, I put it on AC and temp drops to 32 in fridge within an hour from 45, switch to LP and it goes to 45 within a couple hours.

I called a local norcold auth repair shop and he said it sounds like potentially spider webs in burner tube and the flame can still "look good" but not provide sufficient heat. that's the only thing that makes sense as the fridge worked fine for 6 trips before this. wouldn't that mean baffle and other things would be fine (unless they somehow fell but that seems unlikely)? If nothing else at least this guy is willing to try and sounds like he knows what he is talking about. The service rep at dealer clearly doesn't care, he recommended taking it somewhere else but it is under jayco warranty for another 1.5 years. pretty awesome.
  • Flame looks good in your picture

The only difference between electric heat and propane heat is means of heat transfer to perk tube.
Electric element is in direct contact and propane relies on heat being transferred by spiral baffle inside flue.

With a roof top vent....have to remove vent to access top of burner stack to check heat cap and flue baffle
Other than getting to burner and control module not much can be done from lower access vent.

On a brand new refer I would look to see if there are any insect nests or cobwebs obstructing you flue or burner tube. Not likely rust or dirty flue. Does your refer vent out of the top? If so you can remove the cover and look down inside with a flashlight to see what might be obstructing the flow. Do you have a vent fan on that unit? Has it stopped working?

The top vent cover has Dicor on the screw for the vent, would I have to remove that to remove vent? I am guessing so.
Is there anything I can see from the access dept on the side?

I cant seem to embed the pictures.

  • Obstructed ventilation ....but cools OK on AC so doubtful

    The following affect LP cooling
Clean burner.....and clean/unobstructed combustion air thru openings
Clean flue baffle and properly installed....suspended by clip
Heat deflector properly installed.....pushed down onto end of flue
    LP propane pressure
