Toilet into black tank...not sure this looks right?

Question on a 2011 Lance 1685 black tank/toilet...

Trying to figure out if we have an issue or if its just the first time we've noticed something... Not able to add a picture, but what we're seeing is that the neck of the toilet that goes down to the black tank does not appear to be lined up with what we *think* is the opening of the black tank (about 10-12 inches down the shoot). About 75% of it does but then the other 25% overlaps into what looks like the outside space of the tank/container. There are no off smells and no apparent leakage around the toilet or on the ground...or really anywhere that we can tell, but it just seems so odd that the neck of the toilet would not line up directly with this piece. Not sure if maybe there is an inner tank and an outer tank and the toilet doesn't align 100% w/the inner tank opening?

Thanks for any insights you have!!

  • You may want to do the test where you fill the black tank completely up to the top of the toilet and check it for leaks. I have seen this referred to as a wet seal test.
  • I think what you are looking at is the stepped sidewall of the tank that rests on the angle bar that supports the tank. Sometimes due to location of the toilet and the way the tank fits under the trailer the hole cut into the top of the tank for the toilet could be right at the edge of the tank top.
  • Did you just purchase this ?? If you have been using it for much length of time and no smell or leakage It may not be aligned on center, but you can almost bet its sealed.
  • Had a friend who had same problem...Jayco Motorhome..toilet to black tank was not lined up..the lips was letting paper and other stuff pile up as he had to constantly spray the lip to get "stuff" to go down into tank The factory & dealership fixed the problem but took several months to get resolved.
  • There is no inner and outer tank. Flush the black tank a few times and then start to fill the black tank thru the toilet. Watch the toilet down pipe and stop when you see the water start coming up the down neck. Then see if you have leaks. If no leaks, all os good and tight. IF it leaks, then get it fixed. Doug
  • Pour a full bucket of water quickly into the toilet and then go look underneath. If there isn't any water running onto the ground, then your' fine. I've never heard of an inner and outer tank set-up.

  • Don't know what you are looking at, but from our stool the pipe goes straight down for a ways then makes a bend (a 90 or 45 degree bend) then goes into the black tank. You can't see into the black tank.
