Talk about "credibility" there Troy, you have to compare a 2005 to a 2015 truck to try and prove your point?
Don
Don,
And I'm not comparing a 2005 to a 2015 truck. I comparing my '12 truck to my parents '05 Duramax which Turtle said the Chevy's did not have turbo lag so I called him out. Again the comparison is based on my experience driving these two trucks so credibility is based on experience and not some Chrysler union worker slurping more internet chatter. :R
Troy lets compare apples and apples.
Lets say a 12 Chevy to a 12 Ford (Isn't yours a 12?).
If I were you Troy and an LML came along side your truck at a stop light I would just act like you do not want to race and hide.
Oh my! No turbo lag here.
1/2 a second faster with a single turbo and it would make you look silly.
And don't try to out tow one in the hills with your PowerStroke.
LML beats PowerStroke by 1 minute and 24 seconds! You would get WAXED by that single snail!
I would have a beer drank before you crawled up the hill with your 6.7! :B No turbo lag here. Doesn't your 12 have a twin turbo compressor and the Dmax have a single? So much for lag! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha..........
There is one category that your 12 will beat the Max or Ram and that is down hill. I freely admit that your truck will beat a Dmax down hill. :B So much so PUT.com said this:PUT.com wrote:

You would "smoke" a Dmax or Ram down hill! LOL, I guess you could say your truck is on fire!!
Cheer up Troy. You can always hope the 15 will beat the Dmax. I say yes. We will see. :)
I don't live near any hills...:W Going to Florida next week and the only hills I'll experience is an over pass or a bridge (ie. Mississippi River). :B
BTW... I really don't care who wins with the '15 models since I'm not in the market to purchase a truck at the moment. I do enjoy watching/reading these test results and like to keep up with the power race and fuel economy performance as well. :W
LOL... For some reason I just can't find a Duramax at a stop light they are so rare. Obviously these performance reports didn't help Chevy's bottom line. :Wlarry barnhart wrote:

I wouldn't either if that's all I drove. My '05 6.0 PSD had about the same amount too, but after driving my '12 twin turbine turbo, turbo lag is very minimal.
Being older and maybe wiser and staying away from the new trucks also makes me richer. I do understand the difference from 05 to 2015 but not unhappy about it.

chevman,
You do realize in 05 the Duramax introduced a newly designed Garret variable vane turbo and EGR system to meet stricter emission standards. So yes back in 05 the Duramax engine had new tech stuff that you must have not realized at the time of your purchase, and perhaps the older wiser guys at that time must have been telling you the same old story. :W
My retired parents still have their 05 with less than 50k miles although my dad has been eye balling new trucks.- Turtle_n_PeepsExplorer

Whether you believe personally in the methodology behind the test, everyone wants their favorite to win. Does that translate into sales? I don't know that there are any stats out there showing that, but certainly it makes a difference in creating a buzz about performance capability. These pull offs have become a big deal on Utube. Just look at the number of hits they get and the diesel forums of all OEMs have threads on the topic everytime a new one is released. These comparos certainly have an impact on the market. Just because Ford continues to sell more diesels than the other two doesn't mean that these pull offs don't result in the gain or loss of sales depending on how a certain truck performs.

Oh did someone wake up on the wrong side of the crib today? OK chatter boy so you're comparing a 05 single turbo to a 2012 dual turbo and saying the twin turbo spools up faster and has no or little lag, do I have that right? Hello Mr. Obvious, long time listener, first time caller. My super duper 2012 Ford with twin turbos, spools faster the an 05 Chevy Duramax with a single turbo. Gee who would have thunk.

LOL, whatever you say Troy, whatever you say. They just give new part numbers for kicks. LMAO.
Manufacturers will always make some changes for constant improvements or cost reductions to name a couple.
The '11-'14 trucks did not receive a new generation turbo.
RAM added a cleaning port to their turbo's do to soot build so the cleaning process could be simplified, but that wasn't a new generation turbo either! :Wlarry barnhart wrote:
