Proof of being in Mexico for BC Travelers

I was wondering how do the majority of BC residents prove to ICBC that they were in Mexico to obtain a refund.

Keep every receipt and take them in ,in person whenever possible. Haven't had an issue in years!

Do you keep all the receipts while you are down there with the added plate number or just when arriving and departing Mexico?

Our ICBC broker requires us to have receipts with the registration plate numbers written on them by the campground/Pemex/whatever so that's what we do every year. Getting a passport stamp does not prove that your VEHICLE was in Mexico. That's why they want receipts that show the license plate numbers.

Ummm, David, this post is about British Columbia residents obtaining proof that they were in Mexico and out of the coverage area of their British Columbia auto insurance (Canada and USA) and therefore entitled to a refund for that period that the policy was not in force.

It all boils down to whether or not your surplus line broker is aggressive. A supermajority of Americans believe having insurance and doing paperwork by the numbers means border Banjercito staff will miracle an unlock on a delinquent overdue car permit when a vehicle is stolen and not recovered. These kinds of idiot-grade rumors cause nothing but problems.

Should be a stamped and cancelled TIP. For a motorhome or trailer with a 10 year permit, we use a copy of the towed and photos of passport stamps, also RV park receipts.

We are very fortunate in that our insurance broker takes care of it all for us. We just hand them the paperwork wait for the cheque! :B

We are told that many of you also stop at the border and get an exit stamp in your passport.

We have always used our first and last nights receipts from RV Park
We also have asked for the person to write our vehicle license plate numbers on the receipt
Any official receipt with the date on it will work
