Advise please-Campground Near Ava MO in March

Every year for the last 30 years my wife and I have taken the week of March 10 for vacation time. Our anniversary is March 10 (31 years this year).

Last couple years we went to Florida during this week. For this year, we were seriously considering Clarksville - Rome, GA as we spend an over-night there this Christmas and would like to spend more time exploring the area.

But, a long-lost relative of my wife made contact with her just this last week. She hadn't seen or heard from her cousin since she was about 8 or 10 years old, so thought it might be nice to go and visit them over our anniversary week.

They live near Ava, Missouri, which isn't that far from Branson. We found on-line a Good Sam campground in that area that is open year round, which we are considering. But, we much more prefer State Parks. So, we're still exploring.

So, the reason for my post? I'm open to suggestions for a campground somewhere in this area. Full hook up would be nice, but if they have a common water spigot and a dump station, we're OK with that too.

I think I'm more concerned about the weather this time of year. Looking at the maps, Ava and Branson are definately farther "South" than even the most Southern tip of Indiana, more in line with the Kentucky, Tennessee border line.

So, if anyone has had experience with this area, I'd appreciate any thoughts. I'm pretty sure, no matter where we end up, in early March, reservations will be no problem, as long as we stay away from Florida and Southern Texas!

Feedback appreciated ... Thanks!

Be aware a lot of flooding has occurred in Missouri right now so check out the spot they you want to stay at before you commit.

Thanks for the feed back. Sounds like we might be better to stick with our original plan and go to Georgia for that week. I talked to my wife and she's rethinking now, about going to Ava for July 4 week. No plans yet for that week either, so it's wide open. I suppose it will depend on if her "relatives" will be available or not during that time.

I think (weather wise), it sounds too risky. Although we do cold-weather camp a lot, but we are usually much closer to home, usually just over a week-end. So can slip home and take a shower easily. Thanks for the input! I REALLY appreciate this!

We go out for our first trip of the season to Carlyle Lake in mid March. We hope for 60 high/40 low. Two years ago we got a foot of snow the following weekend! Like JCGibson said the weather is very unpredictable. Ava is not really near any larger towns/cities.The Laura Ingalls Wilder RV Park is open all year and has hookups.

We live about 30 miles from Ava. Unfortunately, during this time of the year the weather is very unpredictable. There are many nights that can still get below freezing. Also, there aren't many options near Ava that will be open. I know Ozark Missouri, where Lamberts home of the throwed rolls is, has a couple of parks that would be open, but they aren't much more than a parking lot with hookups. It will be just over 30 miles west of Ava. Laura Ingalls Wilder RV Park is in Mansfield which is about 20 miles north. I don't know much about tho. Branson is the best bet for state park camping (Table Rock State Park) or year round parks in general. However, it is quite far from Ava and the roads are quite curvy. There are lots of COE parks in the area, but none are open during March.
