Roper Lake SP (Safford Arizona)

Just returned from our latest trip out to Roper Lake SP just south of Safford (about 140 miles northeast of Tucson). Lots of snowbirds flock there every fall so thought I would toss out a couple of photos and some general info:

It is a nice CG with a small lake, the trees are are not large but there are lots of them with heavy cattails all along the shoreline. The Cottonwood Loop in addition to having 30 amp service and water at each site has nice brick and stick Ramada's that protect the picnic tables. The sites are large and nicely spread out and the pads are mostly level, asphalt with small gravel. Each site has a fire ring. ZSites with electricity/water are $25 a night and from now through the end of snowbird season you would be well advised to make reservations as far in advance as possible.

There is a dump station but it was full/shut down when we left this morning at 0930 and the Ranger wasn't sure when they would be able to get it pumped. :S We hit the Triple T truck stop just east of Tucson to drop our tanks without any problems (it was free), with easy access right back onto westbound I-10.

Perhaps the best thing about Roper are the views of Mt Graham which dominates the western horizon rising to 10,717'. It makes a nice day trip but leave the RV at Roper as anything over 22' is "Not Recommended". :C

You can't see all of the peak as it is shrouded in the clouds.

Our site, the lake is behind me about 30 yards.
