Yeh, I live in a nice neighborhood. Thanks for sharing. See commercials being filmed up there all the time.

Very nice report! I'm hoping to get to Joshua Tree in a month or two. Hope it won't be crowded.

Yes, Tiger -- a busy national park is not our first choice, nor is the desert. But it was nearby, and it was also near my father in law's home in La Quinta. We were pleasantly surprised by the hiking -- the views were terrific, and the "climbing" was a lot of fun. I put "climbing" in quotes because our gentle boulder-scrambling is nothing compared what the real climbers tackled. If they mess up, they could fall to their death. If I mess up, I fall to my bruise and scrape. No comparison.

It is so unusual to see you posting a TR to a more populated place. I'm glad that you were able to enjoy it.

Ryan Mountain brings back memories of hiking up it with my son-in-law 20 years ago in extremely cold and windy weather. We were leaning so hard into the wind that we would have fallen on our faces if it had suddenly stopped. Our view from the top was not as great as your photographed one, but it was still worth the trip.

Looks like you had a nice trip. We love Joshua Tree NP and climbing on the rocks made us feel like kids again.
