Replacing Dometic Comfort Control w/Simple Thermostats

I have a 1998 Holiday Rambler Imperial with a heat pump in front and a regular AC/heat unit in back, both ducted. They are connected to a thermostat by a phone wire. I would like to remove the Comfort Control (which does not really work) and install one thermostat for each AC unit. I can get new wires to the units, because there is a opening that runs across the ceiling from one unit to the other. I also have part of the ceiling out, so I can get wires to a wall. Can these be rewired to run without the Control Comfort? If so, how do I do it? Thanks!

Thanks robatthelake. I will look into the connectors. There are a bunch of unused wires coming out of the back unit. I am guessing that these are the "normal" control wires. Right now, my control always goes to Aux. heat, which seems to mean that it thinks it is below 24 degrees (it isn't close), when the heat pump can't be used. The buttons on the control do not work well, either. I took that apart and lubricated them, which helped quite a bit.

I temporarily used a standard Thermostat to control just the Furnace, so I would imagine there could be a way for You to control just the A/C Unit(s).

Don't give up on the Duotherm so easily though. The Telco Connecters are the weakest link. ( Check Both Ends Plug and Socket) Followed by the actual push buttons.(Strip down ,clean and reassemble)
