Does anyone make rear electric jacks that would tie-in or work in conjuncion with the exsisting front electric jacks on a 5th wheel? I realize their are complete systems for leveling, etc. However, it would seem more cost effective if you could use the exsisting front jacks and add two rear ones.
If you're talking the rear stabilizer jacks, they are NOT for leveling, only for stabilizing. They simply don't have the capacity to handle that much weight. The FW frame likely wouldn't like being leveled from the extreme rear, either. Most of the leveling systems have the heavy jacks just behind the rear axle and mid-way between the landing legs and the front axle. Not saying you can't add electric stabilizers, but you don't want them running at the same time as the fronts or you could damage something. If you want a total leveling system, then you'd want to add one as a complete system, which would have leveling jacks added and tie the landing legs into the controller for the system. The rear stabilizers would NOT be part of the system, and may not even be needed. A smaller FW could get by with a 4-jack system; larger ones would need a 6-jack system.
