Fridge Repair

Friend of mine took his fifth wheel in to get the fridge repaired, it was not working on either gas or electric. He thought he was headed for a new fridge. I turned out all it needed they told him was a cleaning. What needs to be cleaned to make a fridge work ??. I have heard where the gas gets clogged up, but will still work on electrical.

Our practically new fridge stopped working and we tried everything to fix it. We cleaned the outside portion, looked at the control panel, and the breaker. Couldn't find anything wrong.
Then, we were looking around the outside area where all the cooling equipment is and my husband chased down the power supply with a circuit tester. Turns out there is a tiny fuse (I think 3amp?) that was broken. We couldn't find one locally, but ordered on Amazon. We replaced it and it works like a champ!

Thanks, my friend ,and I went thru all that fuses etc. It seems I confused some , the RV repair shop said there was nothing wrong with the fridge other then it needed a cleaning, and is working fine according to them

Well cummins, I am leaving this thread. I looked several times at your post and I still do not think it was clear that the frige was serviced and they got it running. That is OK though I can take a little spanking once in a while.

I am sure not spanking you. If thats what you think, I apologize .

It was not working at all on either electrical ,or gas. Its running fine now according to the RV repair shop. The friend has not picked it up yet from the RV repair shop. They cleaned it , whatever that was, and the purpose of this thread.

I posted to see if anyone new what this cleaning process was, apparently NO ONE does. He will find out when he goes to pick it up . As said I will post whatever they did to "CLEAN" it. In hopes someone can do this "CLEANING" , instead of a costly trip or whatever to be repaired .

Not sure what your comment means, they did clean it , after the diagnosis to see what the problems were.

My questions for this thread were more or less curiosity , and just MAYBE help someone , if someone here came up with what this cleaning meant. Hopefully preventing a costly trip to an RV shop, or having a mobile tech take a look. I will surely post the results when I find out.

We both know him, and yes when he goes to pick it up, he will ask . He talked to them on the phone to see where they were at on the repairs, fridge was not the only thing . He was told all the fridge needed was a cleaning, was just curious to what that entailed .

Was thinking there were some on here thats been thru it, and could explain.

He took it to a local RV repair shop, we have dealt with them for years . I know the owners personally, and they are as honest as the day is long. I wouldnโ€™t take my RV anywhere else.

There is no question some shops would of sold him a new one, not this place unless it was shot . The question I still have is what do they clean when the fridge is not working electrically or on gas . I get the gas part cleaning , but electrical ???

the burner assembly needs to be taken out and cleaned DO NOT clean orfice with a needle use air. not a hard job ,also the flue chimmey should be cleaned if your not handy? hire a local mobile rv tech ,they come to you and much cheap than a dealer.

While cleaning is always a good idea, I think there may be more issue ahead, if it would not work on either mode.
