Needing Advice

Needing advice from someone that can help us out please. Our latch broke and they are telling us the only way to fix or find one is to purchase a new awning. I know there is someone that has or can fabricate these items or a place that sells. Thanks!

Try Dr. George, Sacramento, CA. He's a good guy who specializes in older parts. Has a warehouse filled with old replacement parts. Fixed the Awing on my 1999 New Vision Ultra two years ago. Send him the photo. Tell him Scotty suggested you call. (916)927-7837.

I work in a large machine shop. If it's the little gizmo on top, that you flip to raise and lower the awning, I had the same problem. Caught mine on a tree branch and ripped it off and broke. Took it into work and had the guys weld it up and re-machine it. Almost like new and works like a champ.

I replaced mine with one of these.
Or get the brand and model number of the awning, and call PPL in Houston, 1-800-755-4775; they've been very cooperative in finding obscure parts.

If all else fails a machine should be able to machine one, or a steel shop with a water jet or plasma could kick one out in a hurry. We had a CNC burning machine that would take hardly anything to burn one of them, but out of steel might be a bit heavy. That looks to be cast aluminum.

Just a thought. Have you called the makers of your awning to get that latch. Some time ago I had an awning problem with our Carefree awning and they sent me the parts. I just checked their web site for their phone number and I see know they don't list it. They want you to contact them via email.

Bring your old one to a welding or machine shop. It can probably be welded up and repaired for way less than a new awning. You can also look on Craigslist for a used awning or parts.

I did try they do not have any junk rv's. Most of them crushed them for scrap.
