OK, so here's what I did. I used Dicor self-levelling to glue the loose section back down. Put a piece of vinyl hose on the nozzle and gunned it as far in as I could. Hard to gun out? You betcha
🙂 Took a 3" plastic putty knife and squeegied it out for a thin bond line. The solvents in the sealant swelled the rubber temporarily, had some ripples in it, but it smoothed out OK. Seems it took prety good. Had it to do over I'd probably just slit the roof, lay it back and use contact cement.
Glued down:
The original problem seems to have been a couple of small holes in the rubber (blobs of butyl tape in the pic).
The caulk (red arrow in OP) was butyl tape down one side, a bead of Dicor down the other. Scraped it all off and ran a bead of non-sag down each side of the camper. It was probably more sound than it looked, but good to do. Went over the front and back edges with the lap seal as well.
Put an EternaBand-Aid over the problem area:
It looks like the AC condensate is just eroding the roof away:
Anyway, that ought to get me to winter, by which time I'll know what I'm gonna do about it, either re-coat or replace.
