This is my thermostat. It reminds me of being a kid and not getting a joystick to make the game do what I want. The "touch" feature doesn't respond friendly when trying to set temps or switch between heat and cool.
I had the same issues with this thermostat, so I contacted Dometic via the support request function on their website. Here is the exact response from them:
"Thanks for choosing Dometic. We typically have this issue with this product. There is a way you can temporarily fix this issue by removing the face of the tstat, ad there is 3 pin points with foam in the inside. Gently remove them, and place them on a table until they puff back up, and gently place them back. To change from Celsius to Fโ, you will need to press both the up, and down button to change that. In the meantime, I will send you a new face as I have your shipping info via email. Have a good day."

This is the one you need. It is easy to use, works great for me! That one you pictured is a much cheaper stat.

These are connected with 3 wires. 12 volt + - and a digital signal. Also the control box operates on the digital signal only. You would need to pull more wire to connect a home style (powered by AA batteries) and you would need to replace the control box in the ceiling back to the old analog style.

If you have the newer digital thermostat, you are pretty well stuck with that. Sorry.

This is unfortunately true. If you have the capacitive touch style with 3 wires, then you better learn to love it (for now anyways). Right out of the gate, we had trouble with ours, which is Very common. However, a quick email to Dometic and they shipped me a replacement face plate and solved my issues. As of now, I have zero complaints with our thermostat.

As a matter of fact I purchased the blue tooth version so I can control the thermostat from the bedroom with my smartphone or tablet.
