Started to look into some water damage in the kitchen of our 83 Pace Arrow. The more I looked, the more I found. I have some pics of the damage so far. Anyone interested in following a rebuild thread?

This post is not directed to anyone in particular. This is more of a mission statement.

In the beginning, I started a remodel in order to covert an rv on the inside to looking more like a house than an rv. That was my wife's suggestion, so, yes, I checked with her already.

That mission has not, nor will it change.

Just as a reminder, the roof design was in response to how Fleetwood was building them back then. Remember this?

Yea, this was Fleetwood's solution to a roof years ago. Build it flat, create an area where water cannot get off the roof, and guess what? Eventually, it will leak.

If it didn't work the first time, it won't work the second time. That is why I redesigned the roof. They build motor homes now with curved roofs instead of flat. That's what I did.

Looking closely, and the designs I have chosen, all have a reason behind them. Maybe it's stupid, maybe it's genius. I am not claiming either.

It is claimed, there is a fine line between genius and crazy. I never claimed to be a genius.

Enjoy or not, take your pick.

Either way, hope everyone enjoys the thread!

Here it is! The steel that I struggled with for months, and the solution only took less than an hour, plus the time it took for him to cut and bend it! Go figure.

Yes, I am happy camper.

Remember, these are 10 feet long each.

Did I mention, I like my Pt Cruiser? Yay! People either love 'em or hate 'em. I fall into the lovers group.

Got a phone call today. STEEL'S DONE! Yay!

So, I picked up my 50 feet of bent steel, with a little extra overhang on the car.

Of course you disagree, you are the one rambling on. At least that last post about the wheel wells (the last, right?) shows how little walking room you will be dealing with in the center of the coach. It should be interesting to see how the inside develops.

Wheel well boxes are about 26 inches each, which will leave around 37" in between for walking.

A flat floor sure would be nice.

Technically, I could raise the floor up to the height of the well boxes, but I don't see that happening. That would only leave me about an inch and a half of headroom.

Although if I did, the entire floor could become storage. I could really overload the chassis! Lol.

So you have 3 feet (plus an inch) walking room. That's why folks are insisting that their class A coach have slides. I am not of the slide persuasion but I have more central walking area than 37". Even if you can figure out how to use the engine hump as a table you are still stuck with the reality of the older RV's layout that did not allow much space in the center of the coach. You are going to have to build something over those wheel wells which will also reduce the walk way. Raising the floor would never have been a thought by me or you (well, at least it would not have been a thought by you but who knows!)

The downside of having slides are potential leaks, if the coach is in hot or cold weather, it's harder to heat and cool because of the extra cubic feet involved.

My wife and I have a procedure worked out when cooking. Only 1 in the kitchen at a time. The original floor plan gave us less floor space in the kitchen, than what I expect to have when done. I do hope to have more counter space than what we did, we'll see.

As far as raising the floor, that's how things evolve over time. If I were doing another one, I might consider that, but probably not on this one.

See....was this post necessary, helpful or on topic?

Was that necessary? Nope.

On topic? Nope.

Helpful? I don't know. Basically nearly everyone who has posted on this thread, has at some time posted something that was not "on topic", and that includes you. I can look it up if you like.

Am I upset? Nope.

You, or anyone else is welcome to follow, not follow, post or not post. On topic, off topic, necessary or not.

Doesn't matter to me. If the admins and moderators are okay with it, who am I to argue? They see more than I do.

On the bright side, I didn't post about frying bacon in the nude again! Lol!

Bill.Satelitte - time to step away from the keyboard man. If you’re not enjoying the ride there are lots of others threads to follow.

Just my 2 cents.

What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?
