Planning on taking the MH to Durango, Colorado and vicinity during Christmas. Will be pulling the Jeep too. What are your experiences during the winter months in Durango? What should we absolutely do?

On sunny days, the roads are generally clear and dry. Your biggest issue will be where to stay. The Westerly RV park at Trimble Hot Springs is open year round in the North Animas Valley. It is a nice park, but with no services other than full hook-ups. (Well, the hot springs are across the road!) Good grocery store across the highway. The only other option is south of town on 550 in Sunnyside. That park is usually full, but has nice views if you can get a rim site. If you are planning to stay on private property, then great! Oh, the Pine River RV Park in Bayfield is year round, too, but tends to fill up with oil and gas workers. Other than these issues, it is a wonderful time to visit our town!! Saw a very big rig towing a Jeep climbing Slumgullion Pass out of Lake City last New Year's Eve, so you are not the only winter campers in our area!
