Both my roof ac's were short cycling, when at the setpoint they would cycle off for less that 4 min and then back on, even at night. as thermostats age, they can lose their differential setting. While I had the bottom cover off I looked everything over good and noticed the front unit, where the air discharges out the center the aluminum sleeve from the blower had gaps all around the bottom that were letting the cold air blow into the return area, I had a roll of aluminum duct tape and used it to seal the sleeve where it meets the bottom piece. Both units seem to work better with the new thermostats and the start load on the generator is less the longer the unit stays cycled off on the thermostat.
